The Supreme Court of Canada just decriminalized assisted suicide/euthanasia * 3

It was banned last year, and as of today it is not.

Therefore, euthaniasia is in the grey zone. Kinda like prostitution...

I'm all for it given proper guide lines.

Plus it's an election year, so I can expecta shit ton of debates on the subject.

Overall I think it's good.

What do you think?

I don't know if I like that or not.. Seems morally wrong but some cases it seems essential.

Proper legal euthanasia is a blessing. People should be able to punch out legally with dignity without having to result to handguns, trains or high buildings.

I wouldnt want to live in a country where a doctor is legally obliged to keep me alive regardless of my level of suffering.

Good, too bad the people in this country are too fucking stupid to ever sign off on this.  How suicide is illegal is beyond my understanding.  Its your life, who the hell is the government to tell you whether or not you can end it on your own terms.

Who determines who is brain dead? When that Terri Schiavo chick was in media I expected a veggie but she was like looking around and shit. That fucked my opinion on matter right up. Yeah pull plug on me if I am in a  coma. Yes fuck suffering and give everyone the right to end pain. But if the person can't speak for themselves who makes decision? Not concerned because Jesus says not to kill, more like I read articles where science isn't sure that you are not still in there somewhere. I dont want to see people put down to save space. I have mixed feelings on issue.

We put animals down out of compassion. I don't see why we don't extend the same compassion to people who are suffering with no hope of recovery.

There's been a lot of debate here about people with locked in syndrome. They are capable of deciding for themselves. We have "right to die" campaigners, usually family members of people who have suffered.

Tony Nicklinson died 6 days after he lost his right to die case. He refused food then contracted pneumonia.

Unfrtunitely I can't really answer the questions you guys are asking because it happened either today or yesterday.

Right now I think the Supreme Court gave the Gov 1 year to come up with an alternative to "It's illegal to euthanize".

This is great news. Much better than having a patient starve himself in the hospital to slip away.:peace: Unfortunately I can't even see why this is a debate and hope it doesn't waste much of the politicians air time. Better used on other subjects.
