The Experience of Death
    #2109802 -

You hear about folks who say they felt as though they were dying while on a trip. You also have the expierence termed the "ego death".

One one mushroom trip I felt as though I was dying, but how did i recognise it as death? Why did it instincitly feel as though I was dying?

Have I perhaps expierinced death before in order to recognise it?

More than once I have felt myself dying while tripping.

I figured it was just my ego dissolving. Especially on high doses of DXM.

hehe is this a joke?

"Have I perhaps expierinced death before in order to recognise it?"

what do you mean recognize it? You didn't recognize it. You thought it was death but it wasn't therefore you never have experienced death.

"One one mushroom trip I felt as though I was dying, but how did i recognise it as death? Why did it instincitly feel as though I was dying?"

Because you were fucked up on mushrooms.

Yeah, you don't really know that what you experienced was indeed what death is like.

yes, lots of people on mushrooms feel as though they are dying. What's your point? Look back to your original post. The topic of this thread seems to be "Have I perhaps expierinced death before in order to recognise it?"

I was just pointing out that you haven't experienced death because you're alive, and you didn't experience death on mushrooms because you are alive and therefore you did not experience death and you didn't recognize the feeling of dying because you haven't experienced the feeling of dying before.

Im sujesting that we have all died before and we have been reincarnated into this life. In these death expieriences we recognise it as death because we have all died many times before.

Yes I am alive, I think you can be approching death, yet come back. It was the build up to death, but I did not die. AS you can walk up to a tree, recognise it as a tree, but you may not climb it.

I have a friend who used to be a heroin addict (he's on methadone, now)

He experienced clinical brain death on 3 separate occaisions.

he told me the experience was indescribable. It definitely wasnt nothing.

If our consiosness was to go on after death, then death would be just an expierence

so let me get this straight. You get high on mushrooms, think that you are dying (but you aren't), and because you mistakenly believe you are dying you propose that you have died many times before and are reincarnated?

I think that because you're foolish enough to believe you are dying when you aren't you never have experienced death in a past life or ever. If you had experienced death you wouldn't be confused and think you were dying when you weren't

"you never have experienced death in a past life or ever"

How do you know?

"If you had experienced death you wouldn't be confused and think you were dying when you weren't "

If I had expiercned death I wouldnt be confused, I d know I was dying when I was

hehe this is a joke right?

"How do you know?"

Because you aren't dead. And I know you haven't experienced it in a past life because you tell me that you have had death experiences on mushrooms, which is not true because you are not dead, therefore those "death" experiences where you felt you were dying were hallucinations. If you had experienced death ever before then you would have recognized that you weren't having a death experience.

"If I had expiercned death I wouldnt be confused, I d know I was dying when I was"

Well if you are the expert on what it is like to die, then please explain why you thought you were dying on shrooms but actually weren't. Why the mistake?

.....

when the silence hits you,  no more thoughts,  jsut you are.  you're concerned with nothing else, but the experience..  jsut like the screen you see, is just another form of input.  when there is no more input,  but just what IS.  no words can describe because there are no words.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.
