Better living through chemestry

Saw this movie was recently added to netflix. I watched it and it was okay...

In the movie, the main character (a pharmacist) uses a mortar and pestle to grind up a bunch of different pills. Then he adds a liquid to the powdered pills and pours it into a mold. They dry and it makes a bunch of little pills without a press.

I wanted to investigate this process further, but I can't figure out what to google. Any body know anything about making pills like this?

i dunno about making pills, but since the title of the topic is BLTC, i figured i should mention this amazing website. its much more scientific and in depth than erowid and has literally thousands of sources you can see just by clicking on the words. their a long read generally but very fascinating
