Re: Any men in the Pub consider themselves feminists? [Re: Prisoner#1]

yeah, well there is a difference between opinion and fact.

fact: a slap doesn't necessarily* equal abuse - *there is context required to be able make this decision.

opinion: i would consider it abusive if i slapped someone

you do the math.

* edit: for clarification, because i know you're gonna see to twisting my words as much as possible.

yeah: well, in the case of someone going to court, the answer is pretty clear.

can we stop now? or do i have to explain everything over again? (people shouldn't be sent to jail because they broke your arbitrary rule, even though YOU don't know these people, know the context in which the "abuse" took place, and know about their proclivities, and their tendency to express themselves this way. some people end up in relationships where one might express themselves this way, but the other doesn't bring them to court for it: because they can understand the difference between going to jail for breaking a rule once, and going to jail for ACTUALLY going over the line and breaking a rule consistently, and purposefully, as opposed to having a moment of weakness.)

can you imagine if every adulterous relationship went to court? again, we'd be lacking relationships in this world, and there'd probably be more a divide between than there already is between A PAIR of HUMANS.

What makes you the arbiter.

I think you shouldn't hit a woman but
if I seen a man hitting his woman that's there business I wouldn't snitch or interfere
Its up to her to get out of the relationship.

There are a lot of services and charitys that will help a woman in a situation of domestic abuse so if you don't want to get beat on then get away from that man.

Being anti-feminist doesn't mean you hate women. Modern feminism is about making women perpetual victims. :aweohyou:

Feminism doesn't exist anymore. Neo-Feminism is used as an excuse for women to complain about problems that barely exist these days and so that they feel entitled for what happened many years ago because they feel just a bit of misogyny now. Men treated women like shit back then, and women who actually tried to change that shit were actual feminists, women who were badasses because they knew what they deserved and they wanted it right away.

In my opinion I think women and men are pretty god damn equal now, in different ways of course but that's just fucking nature. There should be no feminism, there should be no meninism, there should just be equality and understanding that males and females are going to receive various benefits due to their genders.

I like how everyone thinks that they get to define feminism for everyone else.  Again it is the same thing with people who claim racism doesn't exist, it is just something black people use to elevate themselves.  It would be funny if it wasn't so unfortunate.

Isn't it the advocacy for women's rights? And don't women realistically have the same rights as men in America?

then you go on to say " in different ways of course but that's just fucking nature"

 think about that. you just changed the rules.

this is why feminism exists.

There are legal, social, and personal aspects to feminism.  Women theoretically have the same rights as men in America, and I would like to think that they are fairly enforced, but more progress could always be made.  An easy example of a place for feminism these days would be in countries where women are obviously oppressed, but there are countless other aspects to feminism which are still relevant, many of them conflicting.

But this comparison isn't actually even accurate. Racism is generalizing a group of people based on their ethnicity, feminism is the force trying to stop the generalizing of a group of people based on gender.

I'm not saying that MISOGYNY doesn't exist anymore but that I don't believe feminism exists anymore. I don't see any real feminists actually doing anything but pointing out irrelevant social stigmas about women instead of trying to stop the actual oppression of women in less stable countries.

I live in America by the way so I wasn't referring to feminism not being necessary elsewhere.

the outliers are the ones who are real feminist. the ones fighting in the trenches are just taking their "roles" as feminists too seriously. i'd imagine they are taught to be politically active, from certain literature and teaching.

but those are the ACTUAL outliers, there. this confusion must stop.
