The shaving thread was recently deleted, and I'm wondering if this was to censor my replies as I didn't notice anything else in the thread that was likely to cause any controversy here. The essence of what I posted was that although it's obviously a question of conformism, the underlying motivation for shaving is the fear of human biological nature, in particular physical maturity, and that the primary aspect of this is that people who don't shave are considered sexually unattractive (culture conditions people to be attracted to those who look prepubescent).

i dont think its about being attracted to prepubesecent bodys or wanting to have a prepubesecent body.
i think it is naturaly built in to humans to appreciate the living and that youth in all its forms are beauiful animal,plant or human. i mean no one likes looking at a dead plant or be reminded of death and decay. as humans we are fully aware of our own demise and aging serves as a reminder of the impending death that awaits us.
life is so fragile and we know it.
it is instinct to not like or even be disgusted at rot or decay in all its forms and smells and sight affect our perceptions quite alot.
i would say that as we all age and are confronted with others youth and this reminds us of our own demise, this in turn makes youth special and beautiful and most want to keep it as long as possible.

By late adolescence, body and facial hair have naturally grown to their full length. Along with full height having been reached, it signals the vitality of the fully developed human organism, it has nothing to do with death and decay. The only time when the hair that's culturally shaved off isn't naturally present is before puberty.

i don't think its really too much of a stretch to think that getting rid of hair is an attempt to mimic young before hair.

Your thought process illustrates the fundamental problem with the world. We're living organisms, not the abstractions that society dictates. There's nothing wrong with any natural aspect of our bodies.

The fear, shame and contempt for human life that people are conditioned with makes this world an emotional desert, that's why I just stay home or chill with stoners and get high. It wouldn't matter if I were a different sex or sexual orientation, the dehumanization of humanity makes sexuality with other people completely uninteresting to me. I refuse to play the dominator game. If anyone else were to break out of the dominator culture she or he would feel the same way, but given that I'm the only one my only sexual partner is my hand.
