Option to delete your post in locked threads

When a thread gets locked, you are not able to do anything to you own posts in that thread. This is a good idea in theory. you dont want people going in, editing their posts, and carrying on a conversation in a locked thread. but sometimes you dont want your post floating around in a locked thread. I think the "delete" option should still be an option for posts you made in a thread that got locked. Is this at all possible?

I'm not sure that is something we want to modify the board software for -- as that is a lot of work and can create problems down the road. However, I think that whenever that happens, if the member simply PMed an appropriate Moderator or Admin, then they would be happy to take care of it for you. That's what we're here for! :smile:

I think over at Overgrow.com when a tread is locked, the post remains but the usernames change to "userdefault"

So when a thread is locked the info is all still there, its just that everyone who posted in the thread now comes up as userdefault.

That's not a bad idea either. Most of the threads that I'm asked to delete (move to the dump), have user's that have said something that they later realize should not have been said.

that is exactly the reason i asked this question to start with. I see now the reasons against being able to delete the posts, for example as evidence against those that decide to do shitty things like rip people off and such as that.

reaches out and touches bruiser. hahahah, yeah i figured it out when i got up this morning. i think my reasoning last night was the fact that i get drunk sometimes, and when i do the stupid posts come out. Not that all of the posts i make while drunk are stupid, but a lot of them are. the ones that are just meant to be sarcastic or humorous sometimes dont seem so to anyone else, it is hard to convey the true meaning of a post on a message board. those are usally the ones i want deleted.

ALSO- if a post gets deleted or a whole thread gets deleted, does it come off your post count?
