I rarely complain about anything but a line has been crossed. Why are people so set on changing OTD? The whole point of the forum is no-holds-bars discussion. If you are going to "cHange OTD" why even have THe Pub? They are basically the same forum, except for a few rules. If server space is what you are worried about, just delete old posts. There isnt any reason to keep all those old threads. As far as i have seen any OTD drama stays there. Im sure you get complaints and that is annoying, but why piss off a large portion of the community to shutup a few loud mouth mods? If you actually look at posts, you would see at least one of the complaining mods goes into OTD and stirs up trouble everytime. I know it is also argued that what goes on in OTD goes against the "values" of the community. Who is to say what those values are? People who consume psychedelics don't argue? or look at porn? or try to gross each other out to get a laugh? OTD is a forum that doesn't tolerate stupidity, say something dumb and you might get ripped on, big deal! Change the name of OTD, change the forum desciption but don't try to enforce nonsense rules.

For me personaly, i feel to many use the board as a chat room, we
do have a chat room you know ?

i dont like chatting...im sure plenty of other OTD peeps dont either... i like otd cuz i can pop back and forth between my school work and the forums....OTD entertains me, Im always on my PC for school or just cuz i hate TV.. plus there are a lot of cool peeps.. if there is gonna be a crackdown warn the users whose only purpose if is flaming and negativity. we all know who they are.

my point is that some of us are unable to use IRC due to security reasons
I've been hacked from there once already - it won't happen again
and as far as your opion on OTD - it really does not matter since you don't use that forum anyway now does it

We are not changing anything yet. We are planning on conducting an experiment. This experiment will involve OTD but at this point in time there are no conclusive plans to get rid of or even modify OTD.

We will always have OTD here at The Shroomery. Even if we were to abolish "OTD" (which is not what we are aiming for), people would still be free shoot the shit in our other off-topic forum, The Pub. The pub doesn't have any rules against arguing per se, you can post porn if you like (just make sure you make it clear you are doing so in the thread title), and you can certainly try to get each other to laugh. Stupidity is not tolerated in any place on this site to my knowledge as people are getting ripped on for making inaccurate statements in all of our forums. However, it is the matter in which they are ripped on that we are concerned. OTD may have accepted extreme verbal abuse, but that lacks tact. So rip on whomever you please, but do so legitimately and responsibly.. not simply to exhibit how shocking one can be.
Regardless of public opinion at this point, there has been enough support (majority) amongst the staff and a good deal of support from regular members as well to begin the proposed experiment. We are still finalizing the process and you can expect it to be implemented no later than Monday, November 17. Remember, this is just the internet and we are only trying new possibilities to gauge whether or not we can improve the community at large. That is really all there is to say at this point and I hope I can count on the users here to trust the administration and their efforts.

I am tired of hearing that fallacy...
Example: I don't drink alcohol, therefore I should not be concerned about laws related to the consumption of alcohol because I don't drink?
Everything related to the shroomery, regardless of my participation, effects every other aspect of the shroomery. Lets pretend that OTD went away, all the sponsors got upset and went away, the shroomery couldn't pay it's bandwidth bill, and the forums go away, which effects me. Therefore, yes, what I think about OTD does matter, regardless of my participation. The world is bigger than the little corner you play in... open your eyes.

Thanks for taking the time to reply and give us lowlies a better idea of what really is going on here.
I speak for myself here, but will assume many OTD'ers feel the same.
I appreciate all the hard work that you guys put into this place. I appreciate each and every one of the mods and admins who put their heart and souls into this community and want to make the community "a better place as a whole".
I challenge each mod who thinks OTD needs stricter rules, to think about the forum that means the most to them, and apply new rules to your own special places here.
OTD is a place for free thinkers - at least give us a chance to have our voices heard, thats what has always made this place the most special place on the net.

So you think it is better to enable young people with the knowledge to grow illicit substances than to give those same youngsters a place where they can actually be themselves?
Nothing that goes on in OTD is nearly as dangerous as this free for all on how to grow illegal shit.
Tell the next kid that goes to jail for 20 because of the advice YOU gave him - thank God there was no OTD, you really would have been up shits creek then.

Doobs, this is WA&F - if you got beef with Bruiser and his actions of late, talk to him in private. We will not tolerate personal attacks in this forum. Bruiser is clearly not in agreement with our proposed plan, but he understands that he can do more as a representative of OTD in the staff, than someone unable to participate in staff discussion.

Agreed.. But I understand we all really don't have a choice , we don't own this place. It would be nice to know the changes(if theres a thread I missed can you point me to it?) that will be made. I got to the OTD to relax and have fun...I mostly post from work and I work a lot of hours(I own and operate 2 companies) This place lets me shed some of the stress of the day with some smiles, wit, laughs, and verbal sparring..You really got a great bunch in there,smart, funny etc...Its just a place to relax.
I know I haven't been here nearly as long as most of you so my opinion is limited. I love cutting loose in the OTD, as I am doing with this whole OTD reform thing...
