I love making electronic music on the computer
    #2091362 - 11/11/03 03:01 AM (20 years, 4 months ago)

I use reason 2, and cubase sx. The only problem I have is finishing any song! I find them so fun and easy to start. But then I try to perfect the song and change it so much that I never sit down and actually make the song. There is just so many patterns and samples too choose from. I find it fun to make songs with friends.

I used to work in Fruity Loops a lot. It was perfect for me because I didn't spend too much time working with the electronic music and it wasn't too complicated to use, but it was still capable of turning out some great music.

I have on mp3 of a song I was working on, not finished, but about three minutes long. I really like it, if I can find some site where I can upload mp3's to, I will post it.

As for the making songs with friends, back in the day after work on the weekends, after getting all stoned and playing too much guitar, we would always put in MTV Music Generator and start making some music.. hehe. Those were the days...
Peace.

I use Fruity Loops too. It has its limitations, but I'm able to accomplish most things I set out to do with that program.

Yeah, it is really quite the program. The only thing I haven't been able to do on it is take a sound and like take little clips out of it. I'm not even sure what that effect is called, and it might even be available as some sort of patch or something, who knows. I just assumed it was called clipper.

I found a place that I can upload mp3s, as well, but I am having a lot of trouble making it so that the mp3 can be actually downloaded, I upload shit onto the site and then it sits in the file manager and does not appear in the directory of my site... if I ever figure it out, I'll be sure to post up my creation.
Peace.

I use Reason for composition, soundforge for production, and cubasis for arrangement.

some friends of mine have been trying to get me to use Logic for awhile, but I havent had the time to figure it all out.

Hopefully my schoolwork load will get lighter and I will be able to finish a few tracks.  Right now my hardrive is full of half-finished ideas.

Right now, I'm saving up for turntables and a record collection so i will have some motivation to write new tracks.  Round here, producers dont get paid, but DJs do :frown:  But thats cool, cuz I got a lot of DJ and promoter friends who are real supportive and would get me a gig if I got my shit together.

right now I'm interested in writing breaks, DnB/Jungle, and Psy-Trance.

I use a program called Audacity for that. I downloaded it for free off of www.download.com

hehe I've got tons of unfinished crappy experiments at http://strumpling.hallucinaut.com/audio - I have too much fun toying with the program hehe and never really complete any of my works because I come up with a new idea as I'm working on a different one.

Once I get my computer spiced back up, I should be able to pull off some tunes

Lets hear some of your sonic manipulations, people!

I'm still using Fruity Loops.
I really need to learn how to use Cubase, because I can tell that any restriction FL has, Cubase would blow it out of the water.
But, until I do, here are some of my finished tracks from Fruity Loops. I've learned almost everything about that prog, it's still fun as hell to use too.

I love both Reason and Cubase, I learned them both when I took a year of recording arts at post secondary. I don't have either program or any external equipment at home unfortunately, but I should get some because then I can chill here on my comfy brown couch and actually make something expressive instead of just chat on the shroomery:D

making music on my pc is basically my life when i'm not working.  yes it is really a lot of fun
i use FruityLoops with a huge list of vst plugins.  never sat down to learn Logic, but i think i will at some point.  i spend a lot of time just finding samples and cutting up beats and so forth.  most every song i have is in some state of incompleteness because i've gotten into this habit of working on like 5 songs at a time.  also, i definately wouldn't mind having a hardware synth of some sort, but they're a bit expensive...

Well, it took a long fucking time, but I finally found a place where I could upload mp3's. So here it is, the first song I have made on Fruity Loops. The whole last section of it was still being worked on, so it sort of goes on and on with nothing new happening. But I like listening to the song, it is interesting at least to me. Just keep in mind it is the only song I have done with the program and etc, etc.

Mycelium - Rain

Enjoy! Let me know what you think.
Peace.

Logic anyday. Reason is kewl fer just messing with, but if you wanna lay something serious down, use logic and other synths. Reaon is being to relied on, and things made in reason, sound like reason.

Just an objective opinion.

check out www.gnomeservice.com for some dandb made using reason 2.5. Its got all the sounds you need in my opinion, its just the mixer that cant really fatten things up. Does anyone know where i can get a cheap logic or cubase from?
