Yeah, it's pretty normal to offer food here in the midwest.

Habaneros is about where I draw the line on enjoyable. Anything else needs to be diluted or something.

I think some day I'm going to make stuffed habaneros. Sounds good and I just came up with the idea.

Have you ever had the hottest wings flavor at Buffalo Wild Wings?  All I know is that it's called "Blazin" and it comes with a warning: Keep away from your eyes, pets, children.

I ate 3 of them, they were super spicy, and I washed my hands, and then accidentally wiped my eye afterward. I was shocked by how much it burned my eye even after I washed my hands. The effects of the burning lingered for like 20 minutes afterwards too.

Apparently I'm reading it was on the  200,000 – 350,000 Scoville levels: http://www.scottrobertsweb.com/scott-tackles-the-buffalo-wild-wings-blazin-challenge/

The blazin wings are precisely what I was referring to earlier when I said that after a certain point it isn't even worth it to go spicier. You won't even taste the food, just the  :onfire: feeling. Which I guess is cool because of the massive endorphin rush...but I'd far prefer having that perfect mix of the flavor of well-prepared food and the burn of my tongue. The wild (BWW's 2nd hottest flavor) is what I tend to order on the rare occasions I eat there

I always offer food and drink to visitors; I think it's rude not to.  And if people are less than dazzled by my cooking, I feel deeply ashamed.  Probably a mixture of my Midwest upbringing, my Mexican heritage and my general female-ness.

Ditto...though I'm not a woman and pale as a ghost. I just feel like a total dick if I don't at least make the offer. My only real stipulation to giving people food/drink is that they clean up after themselves to a reasonable extent (IE: Not leaving glasses/plates/cans/napkins just strewn about. A neat stack that I can easily pick up and clean later after they leave is all I want or expect).

"I have no way of knowing whether you, who eventually will read this record, like stories or not. If you do not, no doubt you have turned these pages without attention. I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

Ha, yeah, I'm white as heck, too.  My dad's Mexican and my mom's European Mutt.  It's funny because I look 100% Irish but have a lot of Mexican tendencies.  Traditional morenos always look shocked when they hear Spanish coming out of my mouth.

Yeah, I agree with your comment that you made earlier on, about how level 7-8 is the spiciest you should go at any Asian or Indian restaurant. Anything beyond that, you can't even properly taste the food, even if you can take it.

My personal favorite are the mango habanero. I like sweet and spicy combinations.

I have only eaten at BWW a few times, but I really liked their Jerk sauce. Had to order Blazin once just to see, had no idea the Scoville, tasted about as spicy as an average (good) raw habanero to me. Very hot.

I feel good offering food and drink, but I usually rag on friends who have never tried learning to cook :tongue2:
