Re: What are you having for dinner [Re: basdathea]

Well, besides my beer, I just had a bowl of my mushroom rice.

1 can of mushroom soup
1 can of pieces and stems(mushrooms)
Minute maid rice.

So easy.  Put cambells soup in pot, don't add a full can of water. More like 3/4.  Pour in can of mushrooms.  Whisk up and bring to a boil.  Pour/stir enough rice in till it's a somewhat thicky sloppy consistency.  Put lid on and let sit for 5 min.

mmmm.  so good.  You've gotta try.

Now I'm back to the beer

I might have to try your recipe. I gotta stop eating out so much and I hate cooking elaborate meals just for myself.

everyone i make for is like "wow...so good, yet so simple"

I got lots of recipes like that...just another one in the bachelor recipe book.

another with rice is...

Minute maid rice
Chopped/diced up dill pickels
Can of Salmon(chopped up a little)

Cook a cup or two of rice as directed on box. After finished, stir in chopped pickels and salmon. Let sit for a few minutes and voila...add pepper and salt to taste

everyone thinks it sounds good, even people that don't like salmon, but they usually think otherwise after tasting. Good, healthy and quick meal.

You should send me a few of your favorite recipes that are cheap and easy.

This sounds like a big meal.  But it's so easy if you have a slow cooker/crock pot.

Buy one of these:

I usually buy the honey glazed one(couldn't find a picture, but exactly the same).

Have one of these:

Cut up some baby golden potatoes, or whatever potatoes tickle your fancy.  Cut up enough that will at least cover the bottom of the crock pot.

In a bowl add 3/4 a cup of regular, pulp free, orange juice and stir in an equal amount of honey until it's nice and mixed(gotta whisk/stir with a fork like a bugger).

Put cut up potatoes in crockpot.  If you want, add a bit of cut up garlic and some salt and pepper.  Sit ham on top of potatoes and pour your honey/orange juice glaze over top.

Put lid on, turn crockpot on low and let it sit for 7-8 hours.  Only thing you gotta do is turn/pour juices over ham every 2-3 hours.

I've left it for 8 hours turning only once and it was fine.  But for best results follow above procedure.

so easy and you got the best tasting ham every.  Get some frozen vegetables, or cook up a can of corn for the complete meal deal.

Awesome amount of leftovers for ham sandwhiches.

mmm so good...I make one at least once a week.  Prep is like 5-10 minutes.

Cut potatoes, stick in crockpot, sit ham on top, pour glaze over, cover and cook.

How easy can it get?

And I love it because making ham sandwhiches for lunch for a good 5 days, with some chunky soup is an awesome lunch.

Baked chicken in a mesquite lime marinade + some baked potatos and maybe some broccoli or something. Then some home made cookies with white chocolate chips.
