or maybe even for the faqs? a sticky post with: 1. the growth paramaters for the different gourmet & medicinal mushrooms. 2. a list of trees (and other substrates) that these mushrooms grow on. 3. the different times of the year that these mushrooms should be grown. this would be helpful for those who don't have books by stamets.

that is true; all that info can be found on the internet.
many people come to this site to find and share info. i think it would be helpful to have that info within the site and to me it seems that this forum is the perfect place for it.

I think storing all the info clearly arrganged on one place, even when the info exists spread all over the internet would be a good idea.

I think this is a great idea. Links to successful grows would also be incredibly helpful.
Anyone want to generate a wish list?
Pretty much everything in GGMM/TMC represents the common cultures traded these days.
Potential additions; cordyceps [mycelium/extraction info], panellus, gymns. . .others?

Yes, good idea! Each one of us takes one species, describes it and posts it in FAQ contribution forum!

I'm about to play with some shop bought agaricus spawn, so I'll do a log on that too. That has come up a few times here.
Theres a fine list of userbal tree speices posted in another thread (wood chips), I'll also type that out for the faq.
good idea Eric

that is a great link anno, but it doesnt list suitable agar media, spawn media light, etc. maybe a graph like that might be better than listing all the species individually. for a sticky thread in this forum, i would rather have each species listed individually, in alphabetical order. that way as more info is found out about each species, or more grow logs are completed, it may be added.

I like automans formatting. I only would add a section where there are some pics for identification purposes.

i just typed this up before i left the house. unfortunately, it won't show up in the post as the same format i typed it in, but this is good enough. it isn't totally finished, but i didn't have any more time to work on it. it is pretty much what i had in mind. how do i type the degree symbol and the dropped "2" as in CO2? Hypholoma sublateritium (Kuritake, The Chestnut Mushroom) syn. Naematoloma sublateritium (image of fruitbody here) Growth Parameters Spawn Run: Incubation Temperature: 70-75 F. (21-24 C.) Relative Humidity: 95-100% Duration: 20-28 days (+14-28 day resting period.) CO2: >10,000ppm. Fresh Air Exchanges: 0-1 per hour. Light Requirements: n/a Primordia Formation: Initiation Temperature: 50-60 F. (10-16 C.) Relative Humidity: 98-100% Duration: 8-12 days. CO2: 1000-2000 ppm. Fresh Air Exchanges: 1-2 per hour. Light Requirements: 100-200 lux. Fruitbody Development: Temperature: 50-60 F. (10-16 C.) Relative Humidity: 90-95% Duration: 7-14 days. CO2: 1000-5000 ppm. Fresh Air Exchanges: 1-2 per hour or as required. Light Requirements: 100-200 lux. Cropping Cycle: 2 crops, 2 weeks apart Methods of Cultivation: Outdoors: a. Hardwood logs are inoculated with dowels or sawdust and laid horizontally side by side. The logs are then partially buried using untreated sawdust. b. A rooted stump, preferably oak or chestnut, may be inoculated with dowels or sawdust. Indoors: Sterilized blocks of sawdust may be used for indoor cultivation. The exhausted blocks may be buried outside to produce additional fruits or may be used as spawn for inoculating stumps and logs. Suggested Agar Culture Media: MYPA, OMYA, PDYA, DFA. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Generation Spawn Media: Grain. Sawdust may be substituted for grain for the 3rd generation. Substrates for Fruiting: Supplemented alder, chestnut, poplar, hickory, cottonwood or oak sawdust, logs and stumps. Additional Notes: Hypholomas thrive in cold weather and do not produce when temperatures exceed 60-65 F. ( 15-18 C.). Hypholoma species are closely related to Psilocybe and Stropharia species. H. sublateritium clusters are found on dead hardwoods, logs and soils rich in wood debris, and most often found on Oak stumps. Kuritake has a nutty flavor and pairs well with red wines. Supplier (if available): (list of shroomery sponsors carrying the strain or a link to another reliable supplier if none of the sponsors carry it.) (Links to growlogs) (Links to info and pictures on other sites)

I added first two descriptions as they were posted here. I suggest that we work on the design later when we get more info. Try to find pictures and links to growlog posts, mushroom hunting posts and pictures and links to other sites.
