yup, but last time i tried to reinstall, it told me my key number was invalid...when it clearly isnt as that's the disc that came with my computer...

so i might wait until monday when i can borrow a install disc..

hmm, odd, if both trully came together (read: kid at best buy swiched laptops on accident, local computer shop owner trying ot get away with not correctly lisencing machines) then the key should definity work, start by going to the place you purched the machine, then to microsoft. If the company you bought it wont do anything about it then your pretty much screwed though, MS wont replace it for you.

But the easiest way to reinstall XP from XP with a format is to boot off your Windows XP cd, go through the wizard to the point where you create partitions, delete all of them, partition how you see fit, and then follow the rest of the wizard. Along the way you may be asked if you want to "Upgrade" or preform a "clean install"; choose clean install.

I cant remember the exact steps through the wizard as there are several variations (home, home upgrade, pro, pro upgrade, etc) but they are fairly straight forward if you can read and follow directions.

oh well, your pretty much screwed in either case then :wink:

Still, give em a call and tell them whats up and ask what you should do;  if they dont offer any help inform them that your going to have to call the microsoft anti-piracy hotline and find out whats up.

or find the Blue Group Keygen for Windows XP, takes a while, but will find any number of keys you want.
