How many people here use a laptop as their primary computer?

I personally like desktops, and they are my priamry computer. But i also have a laptop that i never use and been trying to get used to it more.

I currently use my laptop as my primary computer and have for months.

Mostly because I never bothered to put linux on my desktop; all it does is play music anyway.

I've got my desktop in my room.  My laptop roams around the house with me.  I prefer the desktop because it doesn't burn my lap :frown: ... but like the laptop because I can take it with me.

i am currently using a laptop with a wireless g card to post this. its my main computer, being that im always road tripping, its nice to have.

you can pull into most hotel parking lots  infront of the main entrance and get on the internet, i have even done this in MEXICO! yeah its cool.

wireless is the way to go, i just bought a wireless router so i dont have to be plugged in at home anmore. good deal.

hmm i ihave to talk to the shroomery radio people about spinning a set live

Wow. You could get one of those broadband telephone services and make free phone calls while on the road.

i never knew laptops were so popular. 95% of the people i know have a desktop. I notice that women tend to use laptops more then desktops.

I never use my laptop that much, because its a piece but i hopefully have fixed it, and maybe i will try it out more.

i've only got a laptop... the whole 'moving-across-the-ocean' thing made me think it would be stupid to invest in a desktop...

my only problem with laptops is they are usually so damn internally un-upgradable (except for ram and maybe HD), I just can't affor to buy a new computer twice a year to stay on top.

that said, though, if i could afford it, a laptops are extremely convienient, and its easy and fin to hack into all the wi-fi nets that are popping up, most people don't even think about encryption on their wifi nets!

I use a laptop as my primary computer. It becomes a hassle synchronising files between UNI, work and home between a laptop and desktop. It's just a hell of alot more convenient. I also prefer looking at LCD screens.

i have always had problems with linux and laptops, escpecially with the battery (acpi or whatever) settings. i couldn't get hibernation, back-light toggle, etc to work right. not that it mattered but i also had trouble with all the buttons on the laptop working.

what laptop/distro do you use and how much battery life do you get?
