Things to see in NYC
    #20689999 -

Hello,

I'll be visiting New York City for the first time quite shortly, and I was wondering if you guys had any advice about neat, out of the ordinary places to see. I'll be seeing the MOMA and the Guggenheim and the Met, but I would like to check out some cool night clubs as well.
I'll be staying near Central Park, so if you could point me towards some cool stuff in that area, I'd much appreciate it.
Thanks :sun:

there's  peep shows, hobos, hookers and pimps, someone always hawking some
shit, once in a while you can take in a good protest or a shooting but
mostly it's fairly calm these days. for the real new york experience you
have to try getting robbed

I suggest observing the bums trying to outsmart the starbucks baristas to use the restroom.

Funny I thought that ruined my visit. Apparently it WAS the main attraction. Its like if I went to Disney Land and got robbed and thought I was missed Disney Land and I WAS in Disney Land!

Wow......

Miami Beach and New York are starting to sound like the same place. Tell me, in New York do the hobos after outsmarting the Starbucks Baristas to use the bathroom end up locking the door and sleeping in the bathroom?

Going for Manhattan idea solely or are you open to traveling to Brooklyn or the Bronx?

I'm only there for 3.5 days, so I'll just stay in Manhattan.

PS. I see hookers and pimps and homeless people everyday; I'm looking for the unique stuff that NYC has to offer

If Fuerza Bruta is still playing then for the love of fucking god, go see it. I got tickets online for 30bucks(as opposed to 80 dollars - student rush is also something to look into that's totally worthwhile)

Look into any more osbcure off-broadway/off off broadway stuff and you're bound to stumble across some really really cool fringy stuff that doesn't cost a fortune.

Oh come on, Shroomery humour is always heart-warming, but I do need serious suggestions. I'm sure there are quite a few New Yorkers here.

I've been to Manhattan a couple of times and I kept seeing people take picture of random shit. And I'm just thinking what's so interesting about any of this.

Some lady walked into the street taking pictures and a car would have ran her over if the driver wasn't looking

Been there twice myself.  Complete shit hole.  Its loud, the people are loud, it stinks, there are no fucking trees.

I think all cities suck though, so hey you might like it!

The part that cracked me up was going to the top of that one tall building and looking out and hearing people saying, "wow look at that view!"  Literally all you can see are other buildings and little ant sized traffic jams.  That is if you can see through the smog that day.

Total shit hole, if you can get out of it, I would suggest going somewhere else.

If you're in NYC over Halloween, the parade in Greenwich Village is a total freakshow. I'll be there.

Unfortunately, I can't be in NYC for Halloween; I must be back for my University midterm exams. Looks pretty neat though- have fun in Greenwich Village!

idk if you already went op but NYC has some crazy ass off-broadway shows that are pretty interactive that you should check out, they also have some insane haunted houses.

http://www.theblackoutexperience.com/ <------ personally I wouldn't want to go through that one, I hear it's really intense(and yes they do touch you and I heard a naked guy waves his junk in people's faces) and they had to tone it down cause people kept having mental breakdowns and no one could make it through.
