Northeastern Alabama ID Request (#4)
    #20560678 -

Specimen #1:

Habitat: Found Growing in a cow pasture in Northeastern Alabama, USA.The altitude is approximately: 900 feet above sea level. It was found living in grass taller than the specimen in question. (Grass estimated 2-8 inches.) The substrate would presumably be the fertilized ground from a cow patty once laid, due to no other obvious substrate being too close to the area of finding.

Gills: The gills looked like a mixture of black/purple. The gills are attached to the stem. The gills are seemingly adnate.

Stem: The stem was a faded, cream color. It also had a purple colored skirt. It's diameter was an estimated 1 centimeter at most, and its length was around 5-6 centimeters. (Including the whole, visible portion that wasn't cut in the field.) The texture of the inner stem was string-like. The specimen seems to have a hollow stem. It also appears to be rather thin.

Cap: A golden color residing at the center of the cap, then fading to a darker hue as you look toward its perimeter. Other than being slightly slimy and smooth, the texture had no notable features. The cap's diameter is approximately 4.5 centimeters. The cap is seemingly convex/flat.

Spore print color: Presumably, a black/purple color. (Note that this is only presumed due to its black/purple veil. A photo of a spore print will be added as soon as possible.)

Bruising: The mushroom's stem bruised blue very shortly after it was damaged/injured.

Other information: It was found on Saturday, September 13th, 2014. It was found and picked around 12:45 A.M. It was also 100% humid the day of finding. I also should note that there was a slightly farinaceous odor produced from the mushroom. (The best way I can describe the smell it that is was 'earthly' and 'natural'.) This specimen was also found growing solitary.

[I think that this specimen is a possible Psilocybe Cubensis? Some help would greatly be appreciated!]

Not just possible; it's completely certain Psilocybe cubensis. You seem to be more than good enough at reliably finding them.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
