You gotta take the good with the bad I guess. Im not super proud of any of these, but hey its still art. The barn one was really nice but I etched a married couples names into them and they never came to get it so I tried to do a cover up :-( the skull is unfinished. The mushrooms also I messed up. Guess you gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette.

I don't know what you are talking about my brotha, you should be super proud, those are awesome! My fav is the cinctulus (did I ID those correctly?) and the skull! Fucking badass!!!

Thank you doctorghosty :-) artist is his/her's own worst critic ;-) i have like ten blanks that are ready to etch and ten or more Im keeping an eye on to harvest before fall is up. Oh and yes they were supposed to be cinctulus. I really loved that piece before I etched it too hard :-(think I will redo it and a couple other favorited from last year.i just started the skull tonight. I call it butt chin lol!

I can pick them all apart. I will refrain on most. The cincts are too conical shaped on some. I feel its ruined and dont know if I can save it. The barn I had 20 hours in and really thought it was nice. After I got in an argument with the buyer (family), I just couldnt bare seeing the names on there. So i tried for a broken road kind of thing.

EDIT: you sell them I see, what would the skull run? what about the others?

the mystery continues... on my iphone, all your pictures are right side up. on my desktop, they are all upside down.

and I think you are overly critical of your work bc of having put so much time into them, they are very good.

Its getting thin around here on appalants too. With me prowling the woods. Its tough for me to let them grow. I found someone online from PA who will pay $18 a dry pound for ones over ten inches across. I havent gathered any for them because if I find any that size I am etching something on them lol. I got waders and im sure theres a bunch creekside to harvest and I am also planning a trip to this disclosed spot I go riding where I seen a bunch of trees full of them :-)

yeah, cross sectioned Phallaceae is correct, I'm looking for the Mushroomobserver.org observation and I shall link it.

I would never cross section a snail, I consider them on par with both democrats and republicans.

GAH, finally... Clathrus columnatus

reminds me of Alien. This is one of 50 mushrooms I would count as a catalyst in my interest. I couldn't believe this was in my backyard and I had to read everything I could about it.
