Outdoor cubensis in the UK, don't chuck those contammed jars

Hi,

Just thought I'd post some pics. I made up some PF Jars with mixed success, 3 of them got green mould, and although it looked like the myc was winning and they were at virtually full colonisation, I didn't want them inside. Instead of throwing them away, I dug a small shallow hole in a shady spot of the garden, broke the cakes into chunks, and covered them with a compost with lots of coir in. Myc appeared on the surface in a few of days, and slugs were clearly attracted to this. So I chucked a flowerpot on top. Slugs STILL got in so I put sand around it and covered the drainage hole with a scrap of hessian. I did absolutely nothing except chucking some water on once or twice. They pinned within a couple of weeks, and the flush looked beautiful. About 60 small shrooms in early August.








Cleaned up, ready for dehydrator.

I kinda did the same with cake spawned to coir that smelled like it was fermenting. I saw a few pins but the slugs got to it. Those slugs damn well know whats good, I can grow salad and weed they go to the weed. If it's mint or shrooms they go to the shrooms those slimy bastards

Hi MikeBearPig,

They were supposedly B+, from a spore syringe, but I agree with more knowledgeable people on this site that strain means very little, and is mostly a tactic to boost sales. Spore syringes are full of mixed genetics (unlike if you clone and make a liquid culture) and growing conditions are more likely to determine how they look. in fact, look what came from the exact same syringe!

Its just cool to know what part of the world they came from.  Yes, most people agree that it is worthless but.. I just kinda like they way different ones look.  Possibly growing a PE just because they are so cute.
