Outdoor Cubensis Tek

I've been looking through past posts on various outdoor teks and have decided to venture it. It seems the Ryche tek is the most popular, but I was wondering if anybody had any other ideas. The reason I want to grow outside is to match nature as much as possible, and I was wondering what the best species to try to grow in central california would be. Temperature is moderate, 60 to 95 until late fall. Could i just put spore solution directly into the substrate, or should I first colonize a jar? Does anyone have addresses for other online teks besides Ryche? Thanks.

Do a search for "Azure bed" in Advanced Mushroom Cultivation. Una provided an excellent pictorial of his methods... and is still adding to it.

Most cubensis strains do well outdoors aswell. There are several methods, but one that was easiest for me was; crumble colonized grain or pf cakes, then mix with dung or a dung based compost outside. Keep the bed in a shaded area and keep it relatively moist. In about a month or so mushrooms should start popping up after every rain storm, or if you have them watered by a lawn sprinkler they will come up every other week or so. I'm in the midwest and it is pretty hot and dry and I have had success with this method so everything should work for you aswell.
