Really? So you would shoot a guy that YOU approached, while he was sleeping, and he is outdoors camping and doesn't know who you are so understandably has a knife. Turn turns his back on you and walks away and you would shoot him..... In self-defense?

he had a 20 year history of violence including assault on police, I'm sure we can figure out why his family doesnt want to claim his body, they're still afraid of him... why would the police have been in an area that looks pretty remote in a confrontation with that man if they werent called about something he was doing, that was a lot of cops and gear for chatting up someone that was just on a nature hike

that's not what I see in the video, a knife in his hand says he didnt just turn his back and walk away

Still seems to me that shooting him at that time was more than a little bit premature.

I'm as in favor as most when it comes time to shoot scumbags, but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

This video makes both parties look like idiots. The cops for having to use this kind of force after bean bagging, K9, tasing, and throwing a flash bang at a hobo in a little camp like this

And the hobo for pulling a knife after he was bean bagged, tased, and had a flash bang thrown at him. Pulling a knife on cops is suicide, it doesn't matter if it's outside in the middle of nowhere. Think about if this was in an enclosed area, or in the city.

Makes the cops look inadequate,  the guy killed was an idiot. The whole thing sucks.

Then that's what you chose to see, granted yes he does have a knife in his hand, but he did turn his back and walk the opposite way from the cops. That's not up for debate, the video clearly shows that.
