are cyanogenic glycosides (hbwr) water soluable?

does anyone know? ive look around and cant find anything about this. im planning on making a hbwr tea, since alkaloids (lsa is an alkaloid, right?) are water soluable. but it would kind of defeat the purpose if cyanogenic glycosides (the stuff in hbwr seeds that makes you sick) were also water soluable.

any info would be great.

yes they are. they disolve slower than the lsa, so if you make tea you might as well just eat the seeds because you'll still get both glycosides and lsa.

I'm not sure how you were planning on making your tea, but you should be cold-brewing it as the alkaloids should become inactive with too much heat. I would still defat, it gets rid of a lot of stuff that you don't need, some of which might add to the nausea. You might want to look into dosing sublingually, some say it reduces the nausea.

But he said how he seen people do it in the junjle it crush the seed to flour mix with h20 and stake in about 1-2 days time pour off the h20 and take the HBWR(moring glory he said?) and bake it in to a peta than eat the morning glory bread. This sounds backwards to every thing i was reading.

the posion in hbwr is cyanogenic glycosides
the posion in MG seed are ementics(sp?)

I hope someone discovers a sure fire way to remove cyanogenic glycosides from the seeds.  They're amazing stuff, but feeling poisoned for three days really turned me off. :frown:

biglo: you feel poisoned for days afterwards? i though the only negative effects were feeling sick for the first hour or two of the trip. can you describe how you felt? how many seeds did you take. i could see someone having side effects lasting for a few days if he 10-15 seeds.

is there any extraction that would remove the cyanogenic glycosides from the seeds? or are cyanogenic glycosides alkaloids as well, so anything you do to try to remove the lsa removes them also?

Do sublingual people. I use 100 sublingual. Then you just get the LSA :tounge:. No bad stuff :tongue:.

got this info from a friend.
Grind 150 seeds up in a coffee grinder. Put seed powder in a decent amount of naptha and let it sit for a few days. Then use a coffee filter to filter the naptha out. Let it set until seed mush is completely dry with no smell. Get some high proof alcohol (everclear or 151) and use 50ml of it. If you can get one of those little 50ml airplane bottles that's perfect. Mix the seed powder in a bottle with the alcohol and leave it for a few hours, shaking occasionally. Then get a coffee filter and pour the liquid in your bottle or whatever, usuing a funnel. Squeeze the filter to get as much liquid as you can out of it. This should yield you 15 10 seed doses.

Yo sancho, my first dose of HBWR seeds and the whole poisoning thing is detailed in an earlier post:

Sorry for the long url, but that is it.

Summary was I ate 11 HBWR seeds and was sick for about an hour 15 minutes after ingestion. I should have puked them up but I didn't and held them down instead. I ended up getting sick about 3 hours into the trip because it takes several hours for cyanogenic glycosides to break down in cyanide gas in the stomach (Same stuff they use in the gas chamber).

Basically cyanide poisoning goes along the lines of it preventing red blood cells from aborbing oxygen, sort of like Carbon Monoxide, and your muscles end up dying of starvation because they are not getting enough oxygen. Basically you suffocate to death, even though you can still breathe. Anyways, just read the thread for more details. Hope that helped!
