So use a "natural" shampoo instead. Alternately, you could put in a bit of effort and learn about what those specific chemicals are and whether or not there is anything to be concerned about. A long unpronounceable name does not necessarily mean a chemical is dangerous to put on your skin.

My thoughts exactly.

I use Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap, OP. If you're that sketched out, use something 'natural' ().

Why are there toxic "somethings" in a lot of things?

They just are sometimes.

Filler ingredients.  All of you are saying that just cause theyre long name they arent bad an to educate ourselves.  But do any of you know what they mean either?

I would bet there are some pretty bad ingredients.

Bananas have bad ingredients too

tough luck

Not necessarily tough luck.  I eat organic bananas, if anything about them is bad its probably just the sugar or something else I dont care about because its most likely all natural.

:lolwut:

All I meant was, a lot of products have some questionable ingredients.

It's been like that for years, and years and years again. It's nothing new.

Just avoid it if it bothers you.

You don't even need shampoo or soap, if you eat good you won't smell like a b-hole.

You misinterpret what I am saying.  I agree that many products have questionable ingredients.  I do avoid them because yes it does bother me.  I eat very healthy and I have not had any problems finding all natural and organic products, its all I use/eat now.

On the contrary, there's E163 in them and we all know E-numbers are very bad for ones health!! But I suppose in your all-natural world even the carcinogens are healthy :rofl2:

They're also radioactive so if you eat bananas you support nuclear plants

and we all know that's bad

you're bad

Sorry about the sideways pic. This is what my girl uses and swears by it.

I just noticed it has a ton of ingredients, but most seem fine enough

You make no sense.  You try to rationalize me wanting to eat healthy and be healthy with somehow thinking carcinogens are healthy?

Cause dumb shit like that happens everywhere, whenever people can make money in the process. It is good to be skeptical about EVERYTHING at first. Cause you learn a lot in the process of being skeptical which expands ur world veiw nd shit.

Or if you don't feel like going through the work of understanding the chemicals in shampoo, you can use Tom's of Maine, or Dr. Bronners, or some other good fair trade safe products!

Not in the slightest. Now food, that is another matter. Why do hamburgers need to contain like 15 ingredients?

No, i'm applying the same moronic logic that makes all natural things healthy. Ofcourse you're oblivious to the fact there's carcinogens in your "natural food"

So easy to dismiss everything  my head hurts of the stupid now though

I have a friend like this..won't use certain toothpastes, doesn't use shampoo, sunscreen, nothing.

I don't fucking get it.

The ironic part is he practically starves himself, but when he does eat, it's shit food.

People need to either do some real research (not clicking the first link on google) and outweigh the risks vs. the rewards or stfu and smell and act like a normal person.

buncha paranoids.

people have been using these things forever..why are people suddenly bugging out?? ..I blame the internet.

I stopped using conventional shampoo a year ago. My hair's never been happier.

I alternate between just using conditioner (does a fine job of rinsing oil and buildup out of your hair without completely stripping it like sulfates do), sometimes I'll do a sort of hair mask, like maybe once a month, using any or all of the following: avocado, honey, olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, bananas.... Leave it in for a half hour or so then wash it out with some conditioner.

Then recently I found this awesome stuff that I think is my new go-to.... Shea Moisture... "raw shea butter moisture retention shampoo"

Here's the ingredients list:

Deionized Water, Decyl Glucoside (Sugar Beets), African Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) (Certified Organic Ingredient), Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Argan Oil, Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B-5), Rosemary Extract, Sea Kelp Extract, Vitamin E, Guar Gum, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower (and) Lonicera Japonica (Japanese Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Avocado Oil.

This is the first thing I've used without sulfates that lathers up and really cleans my hair well, conditions it also, doesn't dry out my scalp or hair, but also doesn't leave it oily and shitty. Highly recommended

STOP USING REGULAR SHAMPOO there's no need to be using sulfate detergents on your scalp. Everything you need to wash your hair can be found in natural plant sources and this stuff is proof of it.

If you've got a ton of super thick and healthy hair naturally, and you know it's not going anywhere, then yeah, who cares, do whatever you want with it. But if you're like me, your hair is fine, maybe even getting thinner, your scalp gets dry, shampoo is the culprit. It strips your scalp of natural oils that it needs. Scalp overcompensates by creating more oil. Makes you feel like you need to wash your hair more often. So scalp gets more dry and makes even more oil to compensate. Gotta stop that cycle

 See the last bit I added there before you quoted me

As far as I'm concerned, from my experience, conventional shampoo is bad. For me at least anyway, and probably anyone else with hair as fine as mine.
