At no time did I say anyone should pay restitution. I said that such an act would not ever be able to make up for what happened. Now I did suggest that the Federal Government cede over more land to the tribes, which I believe is completely reasonable.

I'm uncertain how you could have read what I wrote and misunderstood so greatly.

I think you may be letting your emotions override you reasonable commonsense.

I'm not asking for anyone to pay for anything. I'm just asking for respect. Just as I would hope you respect the veterans who serve this country I would ask you respect those countless lives lost and destroyed for this country in the past as well. Can't you understand that?

So giving them land and the admittance fees from parks isn't something you'd consider restitution?  Imagine that!

Quote:
That said I still think the tribes should be granted MUCH more land (perhaps just give them all the national parks; I think that would be a good start and give them a way to earn a living via tourism via entrance fees etc.; because as I've said most tribes hold the record for the highest poverty rates in America)

Well look no private citizens own the national/state parks yes? The land was originally tribal land was it not? The native people use to take care of the land with much more care then we do today. I see no harm in ceding this land to them. Hell we just had to close down all the parks as a result of the government foul-up last year (or whenever the government shut down was; I believe it was last year though yes? lol) so I think that would be one of the easiest and smoothest restitution we could come up with. Rather then just giving the tribes money or organizing some kind of other bullshit lol. Come on man is there no way we can see eye to eye?

Parkland is leased out to ranchers, and park rangers and volunteers do tremendous amounts of conservation and maintenance work on those parks to keep their ecosystems vibrant and robust. It's typical for them to adapt the practices of the natives to the changing circumstances brought by the modern world. I've actually been learning about this a lot lately and it seems better to leave conservation of our parkland to volunteers than to corruptible institutions. We wouldn't want to be like Canada, trust me.

I totally hear what you're saying. But couldn't there be some way to have both? Perhaps cede the land to the tribes but maintain some kind of oversight (at least initially) to insure corruption doesn't lead to the destruction of the land.
. . . .

And who would maintain oversight? The better angels of the white man's nature? The ones who mandated the construction of KeystoneXL and the extralegal mass extermination of Indian girls in Canada?

(which I wouldn't put past some of the tribal elders; however I know many would rather die then let the land be destroyed/molested further)

It wouldn't be as easy as 1,2,3, here you go, here's all the parks, but more of a gradual shift of power and responsibility over to the tribes.

These are just ideas. But I don't see why they couldn't be implemented to help ease these problems as well as balance out the situation for the tribes a bit. As it is most of the tribal land is quite desolate if I'm not mistaken.

Those that actually owned slaves or killed Indians should of course pay reparations to those who actually were slaves or who were actually killed.

Other than that, years of special programs are enough.

Nah, but I've got some weed that made me almost that lazy

Your ignorance is obvious already

What makes you think you have any idea what should happen, or that I care what you think?

You're demonstrably wrong

The same could be said of you.

Native Americans were not one cohesive homogenous group - they were a very diverse array of tribes made up of individuals. They exhibited all kinds of different peaceful and cruel behavior.

lol, wow, didn't think you'd watch it all. well, like i said, i'll try and DL it tonight, during the night when i ain't gonna be using the computer, cause last night it seemed like it was gonna take days to get it done. might even still, cause it always stops and starts. i mean, though, if i could get a link online, i'd watch it there, but there is none that i could find, as it is too new.

but yeah, what did you think of Titticut Follies? sad-seeming, no?

well, just think of them lumps of meat that don't deserve humanity because they don't FEED humanity. they only care for their own dementia, so hence, as humans they are quite uncaring, hence it is easier for these people to treat them uncaringly. i'm sure they slept fine at night, as long as they had their vices.

well, it can't be that bad. i like Documentary's generally speaking. you gotta see things from all angles  to get a function closer to the truth. so hence, it's not like the documentary is going to seem "foul" to me for any reason. it should be good. just wish it was easier to get. i mean a fucking gig, and i couldn't DL it within hours and hours. BAH
