Notice I did specify my target grou: your government
Notice the title of this thread? It's about what the rest of the world sees from America...not what American citizens are actually like.
I told a bunch of people at the NE Gathering a couple years back that I thought it was a tragedy that the rest of the world only gets to see your mainstream media, and government officials. That's about it. The "image" we get of America is almost entirely defined by what America, as a nation, shows us. Unfortunately for you...that's the MSM and your Govt.

Do you honestly expect 200,000 (or even half that number) people to walk a hundred or two miles to safety?
That is exactly what I mean when I talk of a "every man for himself" mentality.

lets say, for arguments sake, that these people all just decided the hurricane would be fine and stayed just cause they wanted to.
now, do we still just leave them there now that theyve realised their folly?
screw em, right!?
i just cant see it that way.

i agree with you totally, i'm just glad to know that my people were the ones trying to get into n.o. while our govt. was telling us to stay out. our govt that sends people to die in iraq to protect foreign oil would not put it's citizens at voluntary risk to save it's own citizens.

No .. I don't condone that... but they have to realize that if you stayed behind.. then you will be putting yourself in a situation that ends you up at the back of the line..so to speak.. Sad but true..

Exploiting a natural disaster for the sake of a new anti-american argument (with due mention of Iraq, of course).

As a matter of fact, yeah! Eventually they got bored of using sticks and gave me the cattle prod.

true! if i knew a hurricane was coming, I would get the hell out of there no matter what the size of it..tropical storms aren't pretty, expecially lands near the sea level and near the coast. The people should know they are in a risk area to begin with. So oh well..worse then anyone thought, but I bet the next one that comes around people are finally gonna see the damage a hurricane can do. Unfortunatly, the dead cant learn from the mistake of staying around..
