Dear 'Muricans, if everything was in place for you to get universal health care, would you take it? * 1
    #20194228 -

Pretty much the same as every other industrialized country. Government provided universal health care. No more insurance, no more monthly payment, no more Obamacare, just universal health care. Swipe your card, recieve treatment and leave without receiving any bills. Tax paid of course, so maybe a few percent more taxes to pay at the  end of the year

Would you support this or do you prefer you expensive public costs + private costs system you have now?

Mwell?
Would you take universal health care
You may choose only one

Its my hand that hurts. Not my wallet.

It's funny how fundamental Christians of the US are always saying that they want to help others and so on and so fourth but are completely against the idea of Universal Health Care. Kind of uh...umm dumb?

Why wouldn't I. Our monthly payments for insurance are probably more than what the taxes would be. Our insurance doesn't really do shit until we've spent 6k on health care in a year's period, so we're just paying for 'in case shit happens', which probably won't happen.

Yes, definitely.

Depends on whether I have a net payment of more, or less.

Generally though, I have disposable income.  I like the fact that I can buy better healthcare than someone else.

I would oppose it market forces have an incentive to lower the cost of insurance the government does not. And lol a few more percentage points in taxes yea right taxes would increase quite a bit most notably the income tax.

Well look at it this way.

Universal health care is paid by the government alone.

American health care is paid by the government + the private and their profit. Therefore making it more expensive.  levels of payment/management instead of just one.

And the government gets it's money... where?

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. taxes! indeterminate amounts of every citizens taxes.

so basically... to answer your question... the government gets their money from themselves, out of taxes.

For sure. That's what Obama should have proposed in the first place, but he is too republican for that.

Negative. Obama pretended to be a progressive, and has since done nothing progressive at all.

Republican though? He is far from Right wing, lets just say that. I'm not going to debate politics because it always turns into an argument, but I was just kind of confused by that statement.

He's much closer to right of center than the radical leftist conservatives paint him as being. Saying he is republican is just me being hyperbolic.

Private health insurance companies are obligated to maximize profit. Nonprofit health insurance wouldn't need to have that obligation, so their coverage could be more complete and more inclusive at the tax payers expense, which means that the vast majority of the population (the poor) would get more way more bang for their buck, if the costs were paid by a system that taxed higher income more heavily. It's beneficial to public health, so the choice is really a no-brainer if it's made competently.

I'm guessing you don't pay attention to world affairs or current events much. Obama being anywhere near the right is insane. He has done a few things that conservatives might do, but in the end they are all "liberal" or "conservative" until they get in office. Then they don't have to keep up with what they said.

Yeah, totally. There's some Veterans who could tell you all about the joys of government run health care. Its such a smashing success that some clinics needed to keep two sets of books!

How do you Canadians manage to stay so positive, upbeat and cheerful when the real world keeps proving you wrong?
