Reusing plastic dishes

Is there a reliable way?

I was thinking soaking clean dishes in a dilute bleach solution and then drying under a flowhood?

I wash them with bleach and rinse them with alcool.
but to avoid any problems, I add a little bit of hydrogen peroxide to the agar.

Thanks for the idea. How much peroxide to you use? I generally use 10ml h202 per liter of water.

A)  Clean the dishes off well, then give them a good cleaning with alcohol in front of the flowster :smile:

B)  Use Pyrex dishes and PC them.  Ebay is a good place for them.

I reuse plastic petris by soaking them in Bruclens chlorine solution. It's used in wine making (one of my other hobbies) and is very cheap.

UV Sterilization is good, buy a UV-C lamp from a aquarium supplier, make sure you screen it off though good though. I use the balast from my terrarium in a tin foil lined box. It pays to do some tests, to find out how long to use it for.
I am going to post the results of a contam test later, but all my dishes have cultures on the at the mo.

IME if you're using peroxidated agar, a quick boil (after thourough cleaning) does the job fine, though some plastic petris buckle horribly after boiling..
try one and see if it survives intact.
