Psychoactive cactii in Florida pastures?

This question Im sure sounds pretty silly but Im coming across a few different species of cacti in florida cow fields... they dont grow taller than a foot but branch out quite a bit. Im not familiar with psychadelic cactii (peyote etc....) but do psychoactive cactii species only grow in the desert or is it possible they can pop up in florida? Would grabbing a few specimens and taking some pics just be a waste of time?

Waste of time if you only want psychadelic possibly, but would be interesting nonetheless. Plus you may get lucky, who knows? But overall I don't see it as a waste of time if you are looking to enrich your knowledge and experience.

if you feel like taking it home, please take a cutting and leave the roots where they are for natures sake.

Anything psychoactive you find was put there by a hippie. Trichocereus and lophophora are pretty easy to recognize.

I used to live in central florida and know exactly the cactus he's talking about. In that area, they're all over the place and are nearly impossible to kill. Trying to get rid of them as a real pain.
I don't think there are any psychoactives naturally there though I'm no expert.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed... The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. We pay for a single fighter with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people..." President Dwight Eisenhower, 1953

I'm pretty positive there's no known psychoactives in Florida, but there are Cacti naturally endigenous to every state of the continental US.

Actually, I learned there was a negligable ammount of mescaline in opuntia (the pad-cactus you see everywhere). So yeah, they were probably just a tiny tiny tiny TINY bit magical

I didnt touch the other 2 species that I saw in the field becuase they looked a little dangerous. But one of them I just reached down and snapped off a piece. The branches were oval shaped and spines were short and scattered very scarcely. Im no expert but I would love to harvest these guys if they are psychadelic.

i hate those fluffy-micro spined opuntias, their spines are a microscopic hell! i have some yellow spined ones (pretty common on nurseries) and thanks to my mother i've found spine proof gloves (well, they won't really stop a stetsonia or a torch but they work fine for most). some pics would be cool! I saw this apartment complex that had these gigantic near-spineless opuntias growing around it. One was so big it reachesto the second floor window of the complex. I think I'm gonna take 4 or 5 pads and start a lil garden of my own.
