Everything is better than it was the last time.  I'm good.

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

I thought you meant something else. Obviously.

But, is three years really that long?

Considering he was doing live sets, had a single out in 2010, 2 mixes between 2013 and now, a few remixes of others stuff, another compilation on 2013, and many of his contemporaries have dropped off the map completely or have similar 3, 4, year hiatuses peppering their discogs. Michael Robert Paradinas has had 4 & 3 year stretches between albums. Some others produce LPs like clockwork (Vsnares, Squarepusher) but I sometimes which they'd waited t present us with the creme de la creme.

Instead, I tend to find Vibert's works to be more approachable and enjoyable and fun (in a pleasurably spooky kooky way) that stuff ol' Tom Jenkinson churns out.
Not that they're competing and I'm glad we got 'em both and can listen to both. Just seems Squarepusher and Autechre have been straying too far from the dance floor for my tastes.

But, they're still 100X better than 99% of the EDM or Electronic music released that has passed through my eardrums...I'm glad we have so many options, to pick and choose like this.

A more judgmental, nit picky person that I might say someothem've crawled up their own arses.

I'm going to purchase and enjoy both albums after a little try before I buy.
Thinking of investing a much needed 500-999$ into getting a record player.
Not sure if I'm ready for the Big Switch just yet, though. Kinda a pita.

nice, looks like you might be ready soon, though. IDM on vinyl is dope-zizzle.

but yeah, i didn't mean Vibert was taking too long or anything... just that it was longer then i expected.

PS: i like things that move away from the dancefloor personally... i thought that Mouse on Mars and Daedalus' new stuff was too much for the dancefloor, for my personal tastes... even though they were good albums, altogether.

To me the dance floor just means any sort of recognizable beat streucture as these guys rarely do anything with ears towards a real club dancefloor. 4 on the Floor is in direct opposition to Beat Variation that is sorta the only thing 'IDM' as a definition has going for it. All the beats are wacky and they all change throughout the songs at breakneck speeds.

I don't consider MoM or Daedalus to be IDM, I dunno.
I use IDM to mean Luke Vibert, RDJ, Autechre, Mike Paradinas, and possibly Vsnares (Though  more harsh / 'breakbeat'...which is what the whole, wider IDM scene morphed into, esp the hangers on) Drill n Bass would be another hook to hang the scene on.

Anyways, it's all good, everyone has their own middle grown. I don't listen to MoM or Daedelius so...can't comment. Autechre and Squarepusher, lately, I have to really try and like what they're putting out. It's purely out of dedication, because I've liked them so long and they did make Fed ME Weird Things , Vic Acid and Drat 7.30 and that SpltRmx which samples Neu!

But it's so abstract sounding now I wonder if it's just a masterbatory way for them to 'push the boundaries' and do more bad sounding experimental performance art. I don't know the answer but I'll keep listening.

better than RDJ selling his first track in 50,000 years for 8,000 dollars, and only 500 releases will be available. Frankly, not sure what to make of that.

Sorry so lugubrious. Took an ambien and am drinking white wine and pineappple soda.

Neu is classic.

Aphex Twin is making sad decisions.

and i like experimental performance art, and i'd say MoM and Squarepusher is good at it... RDJ, not so much, in my opinion.

but IDM and electronic dance music isn't supposed to be about that kinda of stuff, really, anyways i think.

Basically: Everyone has their 'sweet spot' that hits where they are at ...or where they want to be at any given moment. The average person probably has a few areas he /she tend to gravitate toward more than others. You could map this out on a 3-D representation over time.

To me, funky feel good stuff is where I'm at lately. After diving into Gothic Drone / Funereal Doom / Dungeon Synth Metal for about a month or two.  now it's funky feel good ACID breaks for my coming up (most of the day...to the peak...) Then, Easy Listening segues into.... straight drone and beatless ambient for the come down and finally, blissful sleep.

Listening to Stevie Roach Immersion right now, will be asleep soon...

What album of MoM best exemplifies what you're talking about?
Plaid, Black Dog, Global Goon, DMX Krew, Animals on Wheels, all these decent 2nd shelf acts that are still quite good. Prefuse73. Etc. Monolake.

Monolake is kinda up there with the 1st rate sound explorers I guess...
Still 'not my thing' but I listen to about one song a day I guess...

Steve Roach is what i've been listening to for yers now, while i go to bed.

PS: Monolake  Plaid...

the best MoM that is "experimental"? probably Instrumentals, IMO, but someone would probably say Varcharz; though that album is really breakbeat-y and bombast... while Instrumentals is all chill and smooth and experimental, yet, at the same time.
