Why all this talk of solitary confinement?

A paddle versus 3 days in jail seems like it would be a tough choice for some people, but a paddle versus 3 days of solitary confinement is no contest victory for the paddle. What the fuck man, solitary confinement is literal torture.

Yeah three days is a pretty short period of time. I wouldn't want to do it for an extended period but three days without seeing anyone is pretty manageable.

Seriously you can't convince me that even 20 hard paddlings hurts worse than a 6-hour tattoo. And I've gotten tattoos that took that long while high on opiates and you can barely feel it.

I can't imagine many could handle 5, none the less 20, HARD whacks without wanting to pass out.
Plus that'd linger for days.... And most people do sit often throughout their day

Guys I dont want to break out a sob story but about a decade ago I went through a phase in my life after my mothers death where I lost faith in people and God and was a voluntary hermit and spent all my time shutting out society and sitting behind the computer. I'd actually lose my voice and get hoarse from the many days of not talking to anyone. ther lady at the cash registerv would ask something and my voice would come out broken from not having spoken at all for more than a week. I could do a year in a supermax and not come out any more nuts than I already am.

So 3 days no human contact easy peasy guys, if you cant imagine 3 days alone then people are a coping strategy for you and you are not truly independently handling life. If thats the case with you its worth looking into.

Leaning on people from time to time is fine but dont become overly dependent.

I'd have to be on some serious drugs to be comfortable with being away from people for three days, and that's not what you get in solitary confinement.

I've been in drug-aided self-imposed solitary confinement for that amount of time before, several times. It was torture. I'd need much more of those drugs for it to continue to be bearable. And I would come out of it even more broken than I already am.

"Easy peasy", my ass. Isolation is harmful. It brings irreversible changes to the brain and personality. Solitary confinement is cruel enough when self-imposed, but when imposed by others it is a human rights violation.

3 days is a walk in the park though, especially compared to spending the time with violent scum who're actually supposed to be locked up.

I rather have my brain shrink than my T cell count if you know what I mean.

Would you sprend those 3 days among the general prison population among lerts say violent offenders who will rape you with aids in the shower? Thats the point I'm making. If you or I get 3 days its for something like a bag of weed or a blotter but theres some real pieces of work behind bars that are there because they are an actual menace to people around them and we dont know how to deal with that as a society.

In a locked room for 3 days I know what I get, a dirty mattress and a smelly shitter plus my beautiful mind. I take that over the wildcard of the general prison population any day. They're not all in there for weed.

I have been victimized a lot in my past, I am very spooked by what kind of people I might meet in jail and if its just for 3 days I rather be alone and meditate and bust a nut.

I don't think so. I could go 3 days with no human contact, but while you're in solitary you're also supposed to not have things such as internet or movies, things which could easily pass the time while you're in there. The time going by way too slowly would bother me the most.
