I do not respect them for that.  The cause of most of the violence, murder and stealing is the prohibition itself.  Prohibition creates a lawless black market.  Those drugs are terrible, but responsible adults should be able to make that choice for themselves.  The DEA is like a man who puts out a fire that he secretly started.

Well respect them or not, be it the DEA or local police, there truly are some neighborhoods and cities that ARE dangerous directly because of the meth/crack/heroin trade. I don't think gun slinging reckless maniacs belong on the streets because any innocent person at any time could get caught in the crossfire of that shit.

Somebody has to do it, I don't have kids but how would you feel if your son or daughter had to walk home from school afraid of catching a stray bullet over some drug related gang activity?

I agree with you in a sense though, it would make more sense just to legalize and regulate it and that would pull the rug out from underneath the violent, murderous black market organizations who thrive off prohibition. I don't respect the fact that regardless of what is right or logical these agents will go after whoever, whenever, wherever at the drop of a hat because "it was an order".

Times seem to be changing though, slowly but surely..

Drugs are stupid, but overdosing on prescription triptans doesn't cause potentially fatal serotonin syndrome? It frightens me how people talk shit about things they know nothing about, then turn around and stuff their body full of worse stuff that they also know nothing about simply because it's legal. The level of double facepalm is stunning. People are so desperately dependent on supposed authorities to tell them how to live instead of educating themselves, it's fucking pathetic. I hate sounding like an arrogant person, but it's truly depressing to witness the lack of knowledge that people have about even the basic rudiments of pharmacology, and the risks they aren't even aware they are taking with substances they consider safe simply because of societal conditioning.
