Anyone ever get a "metalic taste" when meditating?
    #1964032 - 09/29/03 10:20 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

Just curouis cause recently I've been getting this, and it's gotten stronger. I don't know how else to describe it other than metalic, but it's almost sweet.

--------------------
The very nature of experience is ineffable; it transcends cognitive thought and intellectualized analysis. To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand,but...

when I was little I had a tumor behind my ear. When they removed it they hit some nerve and damaged it,so now I get random metalic tastes in my mouth every once in awhile.

People think that if you just say the word "hallucinations" it explains everything you want it to explain and eventually whatever it is you can't explain will just go away. It's just a word,it doesn't explain anything...

As your concentration improves, latent physical and psychological effects may begin to manifest. I submitted a similar querty to a monk, and he shared with me experiences of "objects pulling away from view" during his early meditation days. I've taken note of similar phenomenon.

I doubt you have anything to be worried about.

Nope, but sometimes I get the mild hallucinations that
are common during a high fever - i.e. limbs feel like
lead n extreemely heavy n numb...
I think Ped is right, different sensations can occur
during meditation and I've heard that full blown
hallucinations can also happen. I remember an excerpt
from a book where the author wrote about his personal
experience where he hallucinated a flower and everything
else dissapeared from view, while meditating. He mentioned
this in passing almost as a triviality. I'm glad I havn't
experienced anything that dramatic - it would really freak
me out (altho I realize it shouldn't).

I get it sometimes. Sometimes it can also be due to
the meds u take when you're sick...
some meds have a strong effect on taste - e.g. Immovane
(a hypnotic prescribed for sleep)

Fortuntly I enjoy it most of the time. It comes when positive emotions come, sort of like goosebumps.

um why are you brining up old posts and then not putting in anything really worth reading. just a question

--------------------
Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.---senior doobie

The metallic taste comes from the electrical (qi) circuit in the body that touching the toungue to the roof of your mouth connects.

Funny you mention the metalic taste and meditation. My friend said the dmt tasted metalic to him. Then he said later in the shower he hocked up a lugi that tasted metalic and he tripped out for a few seconds. I've also noticed I can taste my trips, lsd trips taste like lsd trips, mushroom trips taste like mushroom trips, shnozberries taste like shnozberries.

Indeed. Uhm... How do you know that, Mixomatosis? Do you meditate a lot?

In yoga we call that Khechari mudra. After all that years i still got that electro metalic feeling every time when i meditate on Om mantra/vibration.

yeah, qi gong. the circuit goes down the front from the toungue down to the perinium then up the back, to the crown of the head then down to the roof of the mouth. To complete the circuit you touch the toungue to the roof of the mouth and let the saliva flow and fill up your mouth. That's called the small microcosmic orbit.

It could have something to do with your blood as i remember reading that people who had DMT injected into there arm would have a metalic taste. But i think this has something to do with the fact that blood is pumped through th left arm to the tongue then to the hart or something like that. I think there was a mention of it in DMT spirit molecule.
