I fell into routine, grinding out my Monday through Friday, and enjoying the weekends with friends and drink. I saw Habiby less than what I was used to when I was a miserable drunk but I was doing good and wasn't too worried about it. A month ago I quit my job, slipped immediately into old habits but when I called for a ride there was no answer. The next week there was still no answer. I was filled with dread, the most radical fucking cab driver you could imagine was nowhere to be found. I had given up.

Tonight I was feeling particularly terrible, still no job prospects and I've pissed away just about all the money I had saved up from my last job on getting drunk. I was leaned up on a pillar outside of my bar, smoking, I see a car approaching, it gets closer, and I see it's Egyptian Cab. God dammit. I rush that shit, Habiby stops, gets out of the car, and gives me the same old glorious hug that he always does. All the worries I'd been dwelling on shifted to wild gladness to know that Habiby was still doing okay. I'm a bit too drunk for this

I don't really participate in this forum, a while ago I was lurking hard because I'm wildly interested in psychedelics. I just hope that all of you find your Habiby. I don't think the lamb will taste as good but you deserve something close. fuck

I wouldn't worry about it, man. I have this rad Egyptian cab driver that brings me leftovers every once in a while. I lost touch with him. Tonight he happened to drive by while I was smoking outside of my regular bar and I was able to flag him down. It was the best thing that had happened to me in quite some time.

I don't know why this is the place I feel most comfortable sharing my wildly drunk ramblings but it is.

It's rough, man. He has so often been the wonderful end to a drunken night. Sitting here I feel like I've mentioned how drunk I am far too much in this thread. maybe one of these days I'll contribute something of value to the pub

My best guess is that he would say, "Very Crazy." Back when the Egyptian protesters were met with force, I asked him about it and after a matter of fact mention of his cousin being killed his response was "Very Crazy."

His English isn't great and while we basically communicate fine it gets tricky when I pry about his feelings on politics.

interesting! i think "Very Crazy" is pretty accurate

i always thought it was cool how i could always find a way to communicate with people who speak broken or little english.


where i used to work there was this guy in the cafe who only spoke japanese. he did not speak a single word of english. but everytime i needed to ask him anything he could always understand and answer my questions. mostly just throuhg signals and body language and stuff. its pretty cool. and he was the happiest dude i've ever met as well. i never once saw him look unhappy or negative. i never once saw him get angry or anything at all. he was just the happy go lucky love life sort. good peoples!


Taxi drivers are usually cool too. if you speak to them they usually have pretty epic life stories and have been on some pretty impressive journies. not to sound condesending but alot of the migrate from overseas, so they usually have been through alot
