What does everyone think of the new APC album? I've heard a lot of complaints about it. Personally, I LOVE it!!!!!!!

It's beautiful. It doesn't deliver the sonic ecstacy of Mer De Noms but it is still very emotionally charged, thoughtful and sensitive. I think it was purposefully done low key. Most of the album crawls along the ground like the banana slug on the cover art. One of my favorite things about it is hearing Twiggy on bass again. He is such a soulfull player and he should be involved in something like APC.
ps. The album makes me wonder if Maynard is chasing the dragon. With songs like Weak and Powerless and H under his belt.

The new album is simply amazing. Although it doesn't exhibit the same emotional impact as Mer de Noms it's still a work of art, exhibiting some of the best features of the band. It seems that this time Maynard went for the spiritual and thought-provoking rather than the angry and thought-changing when he wrote his lyrics.
By the way, I think that at one point Maynard was taking H... as to weather he does it still... well that's anyone's speculation.

Tool has never actually broken up, although they do tend to take huge breaks between albums. This is because many of the band members have side-projects they're involved with (i.e. Maynard with A Perfect Circle), plus for some time they've been involved in legal battles regarding their copyrighted work. After Maynard finishes the tour sessions with A Perfect Circle, we all hope that Tool will begin studio work.

Where did you hear/read that he once did H?

No sorry, I've never actually heard from a firsthand source that Maynard has ever taken or injested heroin; it's all just speculation from their songs and discussion on the band's website. Of course, Maynard never would come right out and say he is/was at one point an addict; it's just his nature not to give away information like that. And, of course, there's always the famous quote:
I think psychedelics play a major part in what we do, but having said that, I feel that if somebody's going to experiment with those things they really need to educate themselves about them. People just taking the chemicals and diving in without having any kind of preparation about what they're about to experience tend to have no frame of reference, so they're missing everything flying by and all these new perspectives. It's just a waste. They reach a little bit of spiritual enlightenment, but they end up going, 'Well, now I need that drug to get back there again.' The trick is to use the drugs once to get there, and maybe spend the next ten years trying to get back there without the drug. - Maynard James Keenan

I actually prefer the new APC album. I love it. And they're touring here next year, so I'm excited to see Maynard and Twiggy on stage together
