any smoke is bad for your lungs. and any flint lighter increases problems. vaporizing though is another story :thumbup:

Weed smoke is the last thing I'm worried about. If you live in the city and get exposed to car fumes your lungs are far worse off than hitting the bong.

clean water acts as a filter to catch heavier elements in the smoke you are about to inhale. so the question between bongs and no bongs is which is healthier for the body?

smoke with less heavy tars

smoke with more heavy tars



i would say the bong is significantly cleaner and easier on the body. but neither of these are close to a vaporizer, which i would argue is one of the least harmful ways to deliver THC into the body.

All I know is that I have a bong with a double filter and when I smoke there's a bunch of gunk in both chambers- gunk that didn't make it into my lungs.

I guess this thread is hella old... oops.

some places are worse than others. When I got back from being in the colorado mountains my lungs could sense all the shit they were inhaling from the concrete jungle:kingcrankey:

THC is water soluble, so smoking with a bong reduces the amount of THC (study commissioned by California NORML), so you have to smoke twice as much.

A company in Australia (savorette.com) has been working with a major filter company is Germany and they have produced a filter that significantly reduces tar and removes particulate matter, but has only a negligible effect on THC.  So you get a smoother smoke with much less tar and without the particulate matter, which gets into your lungs and causes irritation and inflammation.

Do you work for that company or something? THC is not very soluble in water at all I'm pretty sure.

It cools down the smoke and the water acts as a filter so it's not as "bad" I guess but counter that with the 5x larger hits I would take......nope

Not very, about 0.0028 (23 °C) mg/mL (20 °C).  It's a pretty lipophilic molecule.
