Recently on a trip to my local tobacco shop I bought a long wooden pipe, with the intent to smoke only tobacco out of it. so I bought 4 oz of some really nice tobacco, and i've been smoking it ever since, but I can't seem to keep it lit as long as it should, and I know that you're not generally supposed to re-light pipe tobacco.
anyways, what i'm asking for are just some general tips on how to smoke this stuff and how to pack it etc. perhaps a website on it, or just some personal tips, thanks.
you gotta pack it pretty tight. put a little bit in and pack it down. put a little more in and pack it down. then a little more in and pack it down. do that until it's to the top. sometimes you gotta dump the ash, but it should keep burning.
but yeah, if it's not packed tight enough it'll burn too hot and it won't stay lit.
wooden pipes need to have a layer of carbon built up correctly in them too or they can burn or crack.
i found a good site about pipes once but i don't have it bookmarked or anything. there are a lot of them out there. google.
