Reading weird shit on the internet when you're high as hell

I'm mainly referring to reading weird shit on the internet while being high as hell on weed. Being high is in alot of ways, like being hypnotized. The body relaxes and, the mind opens up as a result. When you are high as shit your mind is FAR more open to suggestion, much like a person in a state of hypnosis.

Therefore, if you read something far-out on the internet in this highly vulnerable, open-minded state, the more likely it is to get literally hard-wired into your subconsconscious.

So for example, if you happen to stumble across a website with strange mystical beliefs (or even conspiracy theories), you are FAR more likely to end up believing them in the long run when you are super high. Even if you don't consciously choose to believe them upon first read, the ideas get programmed into your subconscious due to the highly suggestive, open-minded state you are in.

And once an idea is programmed into the subconscious it is VERY very hard to remove without conscious intent...All i'm saying is this: if you end up reading weird ass shit while baked, you're probably going to end up BELIEVING in that weird ass shit. A high mind is an incredibly open-minded and paradoxically, vulnerable mind...to all sorts of far-out ideas.

if you can maintain a totally level head while high...good for you. but there are many on this site who i'm sure are just as mentally vulnerable as i am when in this state of consciousness.

i think it's a situation where if you are already quite creative...things like drugs have the *potential* to make you delusional. because it takes that natural creativity and skyrockets it to an exponential degree...so you read some website about UFOs and extraterrestrials while baked....a few days later you see some weird lights in the sky, baked...and you think they're UFOS.

or you read something about kundalini energy on the internet...while baked. then you smoke a few days later and interpret the change of consciousness as "kundalini energy" running through you.

so suddenly all of these "strange theories" turn into your reality because of the programming you've done to yourself. and then in the long term you develop a messianic complex because you think you've discovered all of these esoteric secrets, when in reality you were just high as hell.

all i'm saying, is the shit we experience on drugs needs to be taken with a grain of salt sometimes. especially if the shit we experience is HIGHLY the result of something we read or watched on the internet, while high.

I don't believe weird shit on the internet any more when I'm high. :shrug: Maybe if I was really really fucking high, but then I guess I wouldn't be on the internet.

I think a lot of people are extremely gullible high or not and will buy into almost anything. Different stuff appeals to different cultural/personality types though.

There used to be a good thread in SA's Crackhead Clubhouse about regrettable purchases made while high and dayum was it long and funny.
Same principal basically, minds are so vulnerable even basic marketing is easier to fall for.

Well, I have to differ with you on the equation of cannabis intoxication and hypnosis, except at the lower, hypnoidal end of the trance continuum. I got "high" for the first time on New Year's Eve 1968-69, and I began the professional practice of hypnosis and hypnotherapy in 1989. Having experienced hypnosis myself on many occasions, and having been stoned on many more occasions, I can say that they have very little in common. The many enhanced abilities that hypnosis is able to engender cannot be replicated with cannabis. A hypnotized person can be made as rigid as a board, support a non-athletic person under head and ankles for demonstration of the subconscious over volition. Hypnotize a 3rd degree burn victim within a couple of hours, and they will not swell up as fluid rushes to the burned skin. That means that life-saving skin grafts can be applied almost immediately. Hypnosis can relieve pain better than Cannabis intoxication. Cannabis has its own barely recognized medical uses, no doubt about it. But the hypnotic states are not equivalent to cannabis intoxication.

In my experience, phobias can be eliminated, profound stutters can be greatly reduced or eliminated, 20 years of nightmares can vanish, and stultifying fears eliminated from young gymnasts who were afraid to perform for difficult and dangerous acts. Anxiety CAN be alleviated with cannabis, but unlike hypnosis, anxiety returns when the high wears off. Confidence can be enhanced with hypnosis (not stoned bravado), habitual habits, and some addictions can be eliminated with hypnosis, not with cannabis. None of these clinical procedures has anything to do with 'belief.' Hypnosis has nothing to do with believing anything. It has to do with consent, from rapport based on transference with the hypnotist. You may have your "critical faculty" and analytical thinking reduced, which is necessary for inducing trance, but what you are describing is gullibility, vulnerability to delusory thinking which can verge on paranoia, both persecutory and grandeur. Nothing is going to be accepted by the subconscious that it doesn't positively like. Negative and neutral suggestions will not be retained.

Despite old movie plots people are not hypnotized to go out and commit crimes. Subjects of mine would not remove their clothes upon suggestion, unless they WANTED to, and then they'd turn around, sue the shit out of me, and have me arrested. So you cannot program things into a hypnotic subject that gets "hard-wired" or "programmed into your subconscious" against their will. Relaxation is the usual induction (see Dave Elman Induction if interested) that I've used, but I've done 'instantaneous' and 'rapid' inductions that do not require a person to relax, just by following the directions of the technique I'm using. It works because they trust me, that I'm giving them the suggestion that they gave to me first, to give back to them while in trance. Beyond that, there is age regression for getting at the most deep-seated fears, phobias, and abreactions. Oh, let me not forget using a Chevreul Pendulum for self-hypnosis to change one's attitude, or to implant a suggestion oneself. Sorry, but I had to dispel any misconception about hypnosis, many of which persist to this day, and to try to establish the uniqueness of the range of hypnotic states and the utility of it. :peace:

Hypnosis did none of the above for me. I've used it effectively on others to quit smoking, but never used it effectively on myself. I've squandered some $$ on hypnotherapists to no effect. Used Paul Scheele's self esteem audio file everyday for 6 months... nothing.

That sucks. Have you ever used the Chevreul Pendulum?
