I would construct a small (8 feet tall, 20 feet diameter) geodesic dome. I would have it full of cushions and soft places to lay. And it'd be in the middle of the woods.

I've always wanted to design my own house just so I could set up an entire system of waterways and miniture waterfalls and tiny little gathering pools and shit throughout the entire thing...with all sorts of pumps and filters and stuff inside the walls to constantly keep it all running and what not, and then have a bunch of little bridges all over the place, and all sorts of planter boxes and what not (all with their own built in watering/drainage systems and all that other nice shit)

In essence - I want my entire house to become my own little sanctuary away from the outside world. Until that happens though: I'd be happy with a courtyard-like setup in the middle of my house (even if only a little tiny one) that will let me have at least a couple of plants and a fountain or something. To me nature is the ultimate 'sacred' theme.

I've been thinking about my eventual retirement house for a while now, even though I've never even had my own house number one yet! I've got a pretty good idea of how it will be, and I have definately planned it around my sacred space. Just as your life should be organized around what you find sacred, I think your house should be a reflection of that.

My home will be in the mountains. The front door will be in an alcove or recess into the house so that by knocking at that door places you inside the frame ( and therefore energy) of my home. The first thing you will notice upon coming into my house, besides my smiling face, is the rocky waterfall with the sounds of flowing water.. Off to the left side will be the Michael Jordan autographed #23 Chicago Bulls jersey framed in glass.

The rear of the house will have an elongated enclosed patio with lots of glass and big bay doors to see the woods beyond. A perfect place to read and just be. Just beyond that is my greenhouse stocked with plants that a shaman would be proud of.

As for the sacred space, it will be in the exact center of the house. This room will have no windows, one entrance, and a retractable sun/moon roof. To the sides of the room will be couches, bookshelves, posters of astonomical wonders, fine furniture and incense holders on the tables. In the exact center of the room is my floatation tank.
