slowed growth on my brf

my whole grain brown rice jars for casing are going fucking smooth, but my brf jars arent going along as quick. i have masking tape over the 4 holes on the jars. is that enough air exchange for release of co2 or must i take off the tape and put foil over top? it had both foil and tape on it. but i took off the foil days ago and still has slow growth. or, should i leave it taped up and turn them upside down? i've read so many ways to do it but cant decide which would be better and i know all of you dope ass mofos here at the shroomery can help!!!!!
P.S. im doing PESA and GT if that helps.

IMO remove tape and leave the foil off. If growth slows further, flip them, but remember that some slowing of growth is normal.

won't leaving an open space for shit to get in contam? they stay in an incubator but i want to take every precaution from getting my babies infected. ooh i love them so much. can i just take the tape off, put on some foil, then flip? as long as the foil is on loosly?

I regularly leave my jars without foil and without filters (except of course the internal vermiculite filter) during the incubation process with acceptable results, but in fairness I wouldn't recommend this to anyone due to the success being dependent on local environmental factors (the cleanliness of your air).

I did the same as Odium. I had nothing over the lids of the jars during incubation, just the protective verm layer on top and they did fine when kept in a small enclosed space.

im doin BRF and its goin kinda slow..but im using duct tape..would it be a good idea to take that off?

Like Odium said, Jerry, it's kind of a judgement thing. Do you think the air is clean enough? Have you had a contam problem before? etc...
