Need advice

This is the situation two jars brf B+ there in a propagator temp 25C humidity 50% First pic is jar one, is it ok is this a contam of some kind it looks like a rust color, but it doesn't smell at all.
Pic two well it just looks ugly doesn't it so is this a contam as well. All this contams stuff is pissing me off someone doesn't want my FOAF to succeed.

So really my Q is are these two pic a contam of some sort

It appears to be.. you might want to give it a few days and see what happens but it doesn't look good.  :frown:

They look contaminated. You also got some black mold in there.

Bottom one (2nd pic) is definitely toast.

The first may have a slight chance, but don't get your hopes up.

Thank guys, just needed that second opinion from the masters, before they got kicked out. MY FOAF will just chuck them both. It's always better to be safe than sorry.  Wonder where my FOAF is going wrong.  my FOAF can't get any cleaner. my FOAF still haven't managed to grow anything yet :sad: My FOAF will just have to try once again.

Make a couple of test jars next time (don't inoculate them), that's a good way to find out where things are going wrong.

Hi MAIA. I forgot to say in the very first pic that black spot you see, isn't mold that was me :grin: My FOAF kinda burnt/cooked the bottom of the jar a little when my FOAF steamed the jar, oops.  My FOAF didn't throw the jars away after all.  This was so they could watch the conttam and learn from it, and This is what happened, nothing, the rusty color looking thing hasn't spread at all, it just stopped what do you make of this? they thought conttams spread like fire and smelled bad. There new to all this so there not sure on this.  The second jar they broke up and took some pics for you, here they are.  But the first jar they have left alone I them to get some pics of that one for you as well. Also when they opened the second jar there was no nasty smell at all just a pleasant mushroom smell. Any thoughts on this, thanks.

Here are the promised Pics of the first jar. So what do ya think keep it or still throw it. It's been 9 days since they spotted this and it hasn't spread at all. Sorry to keep going on like this. They were wondering if it being on the propagator floor may have had something to do with this coloring, could it just be mycelium piss? Oh and that stuff you can still see on the top is stuck to the glass not the cake. It also seems a little grey but you will just have to trust me it's not grey at all. Any help would be great. Thanks once again.

The broken cake looks contaminated, it also looks too wet. Healthy mycelium must be all white and look solid, without any coloration.
I just think this is too weird, what kind of flour are you using ? Sometimes changing the brand is a good idea.
Also that propagator, how are you using it ? You should leave a gap between the jars and the bottom of the incubator which is near the heating source. You should read temps also at the bottom or from any side the heating source is coming.

Crazy Jack Organic Long Grain Brown Rice

They just placed the jars on the floor of the propagator, with the lid on, and the two air vents open and placed a clean towel over it. They also cleaned the propagator with a bleach/water solution. The Temp meter reads 25C which is also on the floor of the propagator.

What would you do with this second jar? Would I be right in thinking not all conttams smell bad and spread all over the cake?

About this second jar, i would wait and see how it develops, it looks healthier than the previous one.
