Well, I'm quite introverted, so I'll be glad to attempt an explanation.  Basically my own psyche feeds me. I'm quite content spending much of my day thinking about things as opposed to looking outward for stimulation.  But that's not to say I'm reclusive, in fact I think I'd do quite well for myself in a big city like New York where I had infinite access to culture (theatre, concerts, poetry, exhibits, etc.)  I'm very much turned on by all of that, but I can only take so much before I have to retreat and delve inwards to process it all, because I find more meaning through that.  That's what introversion means to me.

There are many reasons why somebody could be reclusive, which is to want to be away from other people. Some around here seem to be a bit on the misanthropic side, seeing humanity as a failure and to be avoided.  Others, on the mystical side of things seem to have retired from the world to live a more solitary life devoted to God or what not.

I guess I just don't know if this is some type of neurosis in my psychological framework.
I'm not withdrawn from people entirely.. Its just, many situations I perceive as trivial social games that provide little benefit to me.

I do see humanity as a failure but I also believe we can improve on this and I do peactice mindfullness a lot, not necessarily in correlation to a god..

I sometimes wonder if I'm spiraling into a depression that I'm somehow completely unaware of...If that's possible.

I agree. For me, I also had to change my attitude towards life, the thought that everything was a meaningless causal chain of events that we temporarily experience and then die.

I decided to try attempting to be an enjoyable and kind person to be around instead of constantly being withdrawn and weirded out by what I saw.
