I don't really understand this concept. I understand eating healthy, I do myself. I feel good for eating veggies and light meats and even gluten free breads/pasta.  Not just an attitude of feeling good, but my body feels good and I have lots of energy. I work at a restaurant so I can kind of choose whatever products I want to eat.

But, why the attitude towards gmo. GMO, as I understand has been mutated by humans, this I understand. But not with chemicals... It essentially is speeding up nature by injecting cells from one organic into another organic to change it's dna. It has had it's genetic components changed so it is more resistant to disease and accepts nourishment better (sunlight/water) so that it grows fuller and bigger (better). I don't understand why people think GMO is such a bad thing. All the hippy type people I know really have not clue what GMO is and just jump on the bandwagon of "it's terrible". I'm starting to think people think it's bad because they don't understand how it is done

You demonize soy and I'll demonize gmo

That's what I'm saying man. There are studies that say cooked food is fucking horrible for you but I'm sure we don't have too many Raw vegans here. I find it ironic that a group who will eat research chemicals and yeast vomit has the balls to preach about the evils of tofu....which comes from a plant for fucks sake.

You don't have to get mad, bro. No need to start your first period

:smug:

It's ok in moderation, but if you are going to down soy with every meal, you will see the feminine qualities it induces

Enjoy your soy, just don't over do it.

Research it man, i am no hippy, melodic death metal is my favorite ear candy,I hardly call that hippy.
I have thoroughly researched gmo food.
Where in your head is crossing a fish with a tomato normal/natural?
Or how about corn that grows its own pesticides?
These self growing pesticides are also linked with the massive bee populations dying.
Look up the skin condition Morgellons Disease, also linked with gmo's, makes your skin produce mutli colored plastic fibers.
GMO, can be linked to many cancers, neurological, nervous, respiratory, brain, circulatory, degenerative diseases.
The list goes on and on and on.
I have never even heard an argument made for GMO from anyone except the biotech engineers playing their very own god, creating chimeras and mutants that are already having more and more profound effects on humanity.
You have tons of research ahead of your self is all i can say.

I also don't see what's so horrible about eating GMO foods. I get that it can be an environmental problem, and lead to monocultures, and bioethically it's shady when corporations can patent an organism etc. But I don't get why it should effect your health any different than any other food crop (most of which have been bred to look nothing like their wild counterparts). All I hear is that it's unnatural and scary.

Also, "Morgellons" is a joke. Good luck finding info on it that's not from some "alternative health"/conspiracy website.

I'm not talking about the business view.. Monsanto is a terrible business with their ridiculous patents. But good things come from these highly evolved crops, just not in a business sense because of our fucking POS government. I'm simply standing at the, it's better for you sort of view. There is absolutely no proof saying it lowers bee population, in fact, studies are starting to show it INCREASES bee population by producing more harvestable product for the bees.

People just be scared because they are scared by big words.

People read complete misinformation and just believe it, like:

Yeah eat corn that produces internal pesticides,
it kills the insects that eat the corn but i don't see what is so bad?
i do not see what could be wrong with that at all, how can that be bad for any one? i mean come on!
Animals crossed with vegetables crossed with insects is perfectly normal and healthy, what possible repercussions could there be?
GMO is just a conspiracy theory.

Again, it's great that you don't want to buy GMO products and support that industry. I agree with you there. It's fucking shady and could lead to serious biological problems. Just don't jump ahead and say that it's directly dangerous to humans when it's eaten, just because it has a different genome.

GMO plants are created using agrobacterium. Agrobacterium has the ability to alter plant cell DNA to make it stronger, taller, resistant to chemicals, or anything else the chemical company would like. It also has the ability to alter certain human cell DNA. In theory a strain of agrobacterium could be created and injected into human body where it would seek out cancer cells and change them to healthy cells. However there is the reality that enough research has not been performed and agrobacterium is not fully understood yet. Contrary to popular belief agrobacterium survives processing of food and makes residence in the human body. There are well documented cases of agrobacterium infecting the human body. These were traced to the plastic catheters people received while in the hospital. Of course the plastic was made from genetically modified plants. There has also been cases of capsule endoscopy photographing plants actually growing inside human intestines. Many countries have studied the dangers of GMO and have showed how harmful they are, unfortunately the U.S. isn't one of them. Simply looking at the increase of food allergies or increase in so many diseases should be cause for concern. Unfortunately all the money and all the power are on the side of big chemical companies. As for morgellons anybody with a children's microscope or handheld $15 model can see that something strange is happening to these peoples skin but somehow all the high tech equipment used by these so called scientists proclaim these people are delusional. Don't follow the dark age "the world is flat" beliefs. It will become common knowledge that morgellons is very real and spreading fast. Then maybe we could diagnose the CDC and many drs ad delusional. Lyme disease and aids went through the same struggle to get recognized. If Dr didn't learn it in medical school then it doesn't exist since they know everything and are done learning. Read foreign studies about GMO and it may open your eyes to why some people are so against them.

There has not been ANY conclusive evidence that GMO foods are linked with any negative effects in humans.  If you can show me some peer-reviewed studies that I missed I would be more than willing to read them.

I'm going to guess, though, that if you believe that "Morgellons disease" makes your skin produce plastic you have no fucking idea what you're talking about.

Epigenetics,  compiling  health  and  reproductive  data  over  four
generations  of  mice  fed  genetically  modified  foods,  which  resulted  in
noticeable damage at the DNA level.

better soy than all that sugar mumbo jumbo. they concentrated it drug status.

HFCS is not chemically modifed from what I understand. It's just refined in a certain way similar to how they have different types of milk (i.e. half-and-half, heavy dream...)

Believe it or not, the general scientific concensus is that GMO foods are not harmful for humans as long as they are assessed properly for allergenicity, toxicity, and horizontal gene transfer.

There are 600 papers listed here that corroborate my argument.
