Making sleeping schedules while battling insomnia
    #18631408 -

Ive been battling insomnia since I was 13 and with my last job i actually got into a decent sleep schedule. Now that I have lost that job, my insomnia is back. I have always refused to take any prescription meds for any of my physical/mental health issues so I go for other, natural methods of getting some shut eye. I have the feeling I will be up all night.. Anyone have the same problem/tips for me besides sleepytime tea? Lol. I really need rest tonight.

I recommend meditating for 10-20 mins before bed it seems to help a lot of people

Haha. I've battled insomnia since I was a little boy myself. Kind of embraced while I can. Other times it has been a set back.

Being active during the day is the best way to combat it in my experience. Waking up at an early hour, even after staying up near all night. Staying out of the bed all day long.

I like to work out three or four hours before getting ready for sleep. A long hot shower will calm my body. And reading my mind. If I have a real hard time I will meditate. This has worked wonders.

Saying that.. I do still have sleepless nights. Shroomery does not help!

Out of everything you said this actually doesnt apply to me. The computer screen makes me sleepy usually. Thats why I got on here lol. But yea, being active helps me (thats where shroomery doesnt help i guess!) I did walk a bit today, but not much activeness other than that.

Eating a huge meal to get the Itis is a great way to sleep at night

I've had insomnia since fourth grade. Recently found out they put me on benzo's for a spell to help, wasn't very happy about that. They seriously give 4th graders benzos? :wtf:

For me getting regular exercise has helped a ton, so does being consistent with when you sleep. Eating healthy seems to help too!

Even with all that I still have nights where I lay in my bed for 8 hours straight with my eyes closed and never fall asleep. :frown:

Good luck fellow insomniacs

Play disc golf during the day as much as possible.
The walking alone will tire you out enough, usually.
Plus, it's fun and it's what Dr shLong ordered.

Kava Kava helps me.
I have had a fucked up sleep pattern ever since I was about 9 or 10.
Also, melatonin works very well, but it's not something I take often.
Both give you awesome vivid dreams

Intense physical exercise helps me. I became an insomniac after becoming a parent.  Even if I am exhausted it is VERY hard to sleep now.  But if I work out regularly it's definitely easier.
