Arrogance of Mankind
    #18596075 -

We are in the mostly undeveloped rural area of our inherent galaxy. The ignorant, racist, irrational hillbillies of the Milky Way, slowly evolving (making) our way through space-time to the big city..the acceleration process (the big brain) is as natural as the acceleration of water in a whirlpool..
we are being drawn towards the super-massive black hole in the middle of our galaxy at an accelerating rate that is directly proportional to the acceleration of our own evolution.

(I believe this could be proven mathematically I'm working on it any and all help would be appreciated.)

All borders are illusory, man-made 'lines'. We do not live in the USA. We do not live in Russia.

We live on planet earth. We are intergalactic citizens.

What does this have to do with PS&P? What is the debate topic? Or is this more preaching again?

Debate if you wish, how is this NOT PS&P?

How is this preaching?

What part of this is subjective belief?

I am making an assertion that the acceleration process of our evolution/technology is directly proportional to the acceleration of our solar system towards the super-massive blackhole in the center of our galaxy. That we are not the most intelligent beings in the galaxy, not even close. That borders drawn by man are archaic and illusory...

Debate me! bring it

You can't just say I am preaching without providing any evidence.

Debate me, sir.

May I remind you that:

This debate-oriented forum is for the discussion of philosophical ideas that can be backed up with some sort of thoughtful logic and reasoning.  Topics may include epistemology, ethics, metaphysics/ontology, the psychology of mind and the sociological study of cultural and individual behavior.

You say you are making the following assertion:

I am making an assertion that the acceleration process of our evolution/technology is directly proportional to the acceleration of our solar system towards the super-massive blackhole in the center of our galaxy. That we are not the most intelligent beings in the galaxy, not even close. That borders drawn by man are archaic and illusory...

What is your logical reasoning behind this thought? If this is your debate topic - then fine - but back it up with some logic.
What makes you think that the acceleration process of our evolution/technology is directly proportional to the acceleration of our solar system towards the super-massive blackhole in the center of our galaxy.

I use vagueness as an art in getting another to think, either to expose a premature conclusion and/or reason for themselves. I seek to inspire understanding and in my opinion this is one way to do it, debate is another form of getting to the logic of things. Philosophy is about understanding..not about debate as many of you here claim.

Thank you though for pointing out why you see it as preaching, I will present my logic now.

We are in the undeveloped rural area due to our extreme distance from any neighboring stars, the star systems near the galactic center are much closer together and if our area has life (us) than logically speaking you will find much more life within a given area in the galactic center.
we have moved throughout space-time a long a pre-determined path (mathematically speaking).  The speed at which our planet follows this path a long the spiraling galaxy we inhabit is accelerating due to the super-massive blackhole at the center.
We can also see that evolution is following a pre-determined path, and is accelerating.  http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/07/130719104931.htm

The effect is much like water accelerating as it nears a sinkhole creating a whirlpool.

We can see an acceleration of evolution by the shear number of humans on this planet.
10,000 years ago the human population numbered in the few millions, now we have over 7 billion.

The population explosion allowed for much more mutations to occur, and the mutations are 5x more novel than what was previously given credit for. While most mutations are not beneficial, some by probability alone, will be.

Its obvious that the two are correlated, but how are they causally linked?

It seems almost to obvious to believe..our movement through space-time effects our experience of space-time. Why would it also not effect something else like our evolution? If we see evolution to be mediated by space-time, than our acceleration of evolution is likely causally related to the acceleration of our movement through space-time. Remember we are on a planet, moving in relation to the sun, which moves in relation to the massive black hole at the center of the galaxy.
This means as we move closer towards this center, we are accelerating.
http://adsabs.harvard.edu/full/1995A%26A...293L..73N

I suppose herein lies the end of my physical evidence...all I have left is an educated guess that the older, more advanced civilizations are likely closer to the galactic center than us due to age(experience) of the star systems alone. Billions of years ahead of the earth (literally).

Hard to over-think the obvious.

Whats obvious now is you have resorted to personalisms and one liners that are completely irrelevant to the subject matter at hand.

It's not as simple as a single physical force at work. The spin of the galaxy acts as a counter preventing everything from getting sucked into the center at a set rate. For the same reason the Moon is slowly moving away from the Earth. It's difficult to measure the distance to the center of the galaxy with any accuracy so it's not possible to say whether we're moving towards or away from it. There may be some math I'm not aware of which would suggest movement towards or away from the galactic center, but even assuming we're moving towards it, even accelerating, it would be a long bloody time. The Earth will be a burnt out husk circling a dwarf star before we get anywhere near the galactic center which is +25,000 light years away.

Another flaw in your physical logic is that areas of low activity would be more conducive towards the beginnings of life. The Earth has acted as a relatively quiet incubator. Add in closer star systems, more asteroids and meteors and the likelihood of life arising goes down.

So, your OP's prime assertion is that our evolution and it's acceleration somehow parallels the supposed acceleration towards the center of the galaxy. Even if by chance the Sun was accelerating towards the galactic center (which I'm not suggesting) on what basis would you make such an assertion? Lots of things evolve and come to an end while other things begin or have yet to begin.

I also think it's worth asking, considering the title you chose, whether it might be arrogant to assume our evolution for some reason needs to parallel the Galaxy's implosion, or any other cosmic event?

Personally, I would like to find some relevance to my life beyond the base survival mechanisms that keep me moving. That trick seems to only work for so many decades. For whatever reason though, I would prefer to see things as they actually are even if they are inherently meaningless on a cosmic scale. Perhaps there is arrogance in the thought that we can be perfect but are not yet so. Perhaps there's arrogance in the thought that we're already perfect. Sometimes it seems better not to think about it in those terms at all. Acknowledging the sheer ignorance towards the matter might be the humble path.

why there is reality and patterned, law-like consistency at all, rather than noise or non-reality is not a question physics answers. It's a question physics presupposes an answer to in order to provide other answers.
