the government in this country sucks. so much for america being the "land of the free", now we're not even free to follow other countries' laws. everyone else in this country must share some mentality that i just dont get. it seems that all government/school systems ive had interaction with are all about telling people whats best for them. when do i get to make a decision about whats good for me? when the rest of the country can? unfortunately this countries filled with stupid people who'll do anything to get off, so that seems like it will happen long after im dead. all i can say is im gettin the fuck out of here as soon as i can.

I remember this great place called Mastrich (not sure of the spelling), just across the border with Germany. On the river there was a coffee shop on a barge named The Mississippi. you walk in and look to the right and there were some stairs going down to a lower deck. Above the doorway was a sign that said DEALER. down stairs to right was the bar where you could buy any number of varieties of weed and almost the length of the ship this room was lined wall towall with couches and chairs with coffee tables in front of them. They even had pipes and bongs chained to the tables that you could use if you didn't have your own.

I miss those days.

That would be Maastricht. I think I've heard of that boat somewhere.
We also have a coffeeshop boat here in Utrecht. We also have the oldest still running coffeeshop Sarasani.

That's it. I can't believe I forgot how to spell that. Well It has been over three and a half years since I went there.

My first time there, my friends and I arrived too late and the Smart Shops were closed so we had to sleep in the car until morning. It was cold as hell too because it was winter time.

Hmm, to be sure I just searched for it in Dutch. Some pages say it's the oldest some don't. In the beginning Sarasani didn't sell weed but let a few house dealers enter. Sarasani only provided the place to smoke, eat, drink and play games. Later Sarasani took control of the sale.
So maybe there was another shop that was selling earlier but wasn't older.
Dunno, doesn't really matter actually  :smirk:

When I went to Amsterdam I went to a place called The Bulldog. They said that they were the first place to open up 28 years ago. Were they just full of it?

i hope bush gets out of office. i will vote this time. i just think its kind of funny he invaids a country that has oil. i wonder if a new president gets into office what he will do about iraq. I wish clinton was still the president. the other night i was driving down the road a cop pulled me over and then two more cops arrived one was undercover. and they searched me the truck everything. they didn't find a damn thing but that is just a mandatory thing where i live.isn't that fucked up.if you say no they just say well you look fucked up and put the cuffs on you and put you in the back of the car.and search your car and if they don't find anything they let you go had that happen to me on several different occasions.

I did some reseach and found out "Mellow Yellow" Coffeeshop was the first COFFEE SHOP to open and sell marihuana, but before they had alot of clubs selling pot before that.

"The coffeeshop phenomenon began in the early 1970's. Even then, the Netherlands realised that the war on drugs was lost and that they had to find a way of reducing the impact of drugs on their society. To that end, they sought to draw a clear line between hard and soft drugs and concentrated their law enforcement effort on hard drugs. Those involved in smuggling and trading heroin and cocaine were to be hunted down and prosecuted; those addicted to heroin were to be treated as sick, like alcoholics; and those in possession of cannabis were to be, virtually, ignored.

The pioneering coffeeshops exploited this situation by openly selling cannabis. They were frequently busted but kept coming back for more. There is some debate about which was the first coffeeshop but the most famous was certainly The Bulldog established in 1975 by a guy called Henk de Vries in a former brothel in the Red Light district. Just for completeness, the real first was probably Mellow Yellow (no longer under original management) and even before that The Melkweg (see clubs) was doing a bit of dealing. i dont mean to sound like a pussy or something but what america is doing, even though i dont live there, makes me really sad. like what the fuck are half the people blind, deaf, and dumb? it seems the only smart americans are fucked up on drugs. but what kind of country is it where you'll be driving and cops pull you over for no reason and if you deny them to take away your owns rights they take even more of your rights away. WHAT THE FUCK PEOPLE!? holy shit it blows my mind. im so gonna take a trip to holland some day and im gettin fuckin ripped lol. but ya, i sympathize for all americans here. i hate george bush. i wouldnt be surprised if he turned into some big dictator and took over the army and didnt let anyone kick him out of the white house. fuckin cowboy. there is way to much repression going on and it's making me sick so ima go check out another thread haha. peace.

That's why we Americans feel so strongly about our right to bear arms. If anyone tries to do such a thing it would be a catastrophe because everyday men and women would stand up and fight.

The only thing that comes from your right to bear arms is a lot of innocent deaths. Some people just aren't responsible enough te be allowed a gun.
That's another thing about Holland. Nobody can get a gun permit unless you are a member of a shooting club. There are a lot less guns here.
