First of all you don't "build" a gaming laptop.  You buy one.  Secondly, a gaming DESKTOP costs $800-1500.  An $800 laptop gets you a word processor.

You could probably get an Alienware laptop which are made specifically for gaming for around $1200 so yeah you could definitely build one for a lot less.

yea i have a g60, and it was great when I first got it...but I wish I spent the money on a desktop because 3 years later its kinda going to crap

also its hardly portable...i have it hooked up to a monitor, keyboard and mouse 98% of the time

at least get an i5 for cpu power

a laptop won't  have nearly the graphics you want to see

if anything get a desktop for 5-600 and buy a laptop for like 2-300

there are sites where you can ask them to put it together for like 60 bucks more

$500-600 does not get you much of a computer.  You need to spend about a grand.

Do you need a modem if you have a network wifi in it?
