Edward Snowden: the whistleblower behind the NSA surveillance revelations * 1
    #18392782 -

Link to text article.

The video is an interview with the guy.

Pretty ballsy not only to leak this information, but to own up to it publicly.

How long do you think this guy will last?

He just pissed off some powerful people. . .

How many of these guys are necessary before people start realizing how serious this really is?

As long as people can go about their daily lives. . . wake up, go to work, eat fast food, drink beer, watch tv, rinse, repeat. . .  I don't think a lot of people really give a shit. Unfortunately the majority of people will passively accept this as "the way things are" and continue their daily routine as scheduled.

I like he went on to say that if he wanted to harm the US, he would have done it. His message and purpose is to inform the general public which will eventually lead to reformation of current policy.

Great post, man.

human nature = the capacity in which one will reduce their understanding of nature by limiting it to a very stupefyingly small amount for convenience.

Yeah this is quite intense.

At the same time, this information is not new. Its been common knowledge that our communications are being tapped.
Why should it matter? We are proles, with the desires to simply live a prole life.
Im not being sarcastic. I think most of America really believes this.

According to CNN he is pretty much untouchable now that he has fled to Hong Kong.

Bullshit. There is an extradition treaty in place between Hong Kong and the US, although this is not the case with Mainland China.

Indeed.

"If you were in hawaii living a nice life in paradise making a lot of money, what would it take for you to leave that all behind?"

:strokebeard:

I think he's trying to point out that these abuses go far beyond even what he has already said.

Because our freedom is at stake. Our civil liberties are being ripped from us piece by piece with each new piece of legislation that passes through. If we continue holding the attitude that change is out of our control, the little freedoms we do hold now will diminish. It is an attitude like the one you portrayed of a proletariat that is the reason we are this far along.

Aside from the fact that this is of no surprise, not new, and effects almost nobody, who the fuck elected this asshole to decide what is or isn't worthy of being secret?
