Illegal to distribute a photoshopped pic of a cop?

Say I came across or made a photoshopped picture of a local cop with a joint in his mouth, would it be illegal to show it or send it to anyone? There was this picture of a local cop with a nice photoshop placing a joint in his mouth with a funny subtitle, and I sent it to a couple people, and next thing I know the cop calls me on a private number. He told me that distributing that photo could mean jail time, is this true at all? I think he was just butthurt about the picture, but I could be wrong. Was he telling me the truth?

It's not a crime to distribute it.

However that doesn't mean that it won't mean jail time.  He could get you for something else.

He could also sue you for slander, though I doubt he would go that route....

I don't doubt that your local cops have the ability to put you in jail.  They put people in jail for a living, if you photoshop a joint into their mouth they might wait outside your house and get you when you come out....

You could tell him to fuck off and perhaps spend some time in the slammer

Or you could do the smart thing and take the pic down...

Or you could make another one with a joint twice the size and a crackpipe also...

Choice is yours....

Lol, the crack pipe would have been a good idea. I don't trust the cops around here and I'm moving ASAP. I'm sick of this small town bullshit. I told him I found it on Topix but think the thread had been deleted since, but I don't know if he bought it. Now he has reason to suspect I'm into drugs and he's the fucking K9 cop.

Yes, it might be legal. Or it might not be. But EVERYONE is a criminal. Everyone. If you own a car, you're a criminal. Ever go 66 on the freeway? You're a criminal. Cops' jobs are to make life hard on criminals. You're on this website, so you're probably more of a criminal than the average person. Their job is to make your life hard. Antagonizing them does nothing.

It reminds me of all the stoner's walking around wearing clothing with a pot leaf on it. Then being truly baffled as to why you get harassed by the police.

The kid didn't really do anything, at least from what the video shows... He said "OK, I didn't hear you" with somewhat of a teenage attitude then the cop remembered how tiny his penis was and started yelling and tried to bring him down with the tiny dick of the law.

That cop should have to go through some anger management.

i think its more likely to get arrested if you fuck with the cops and never actually break the law than breaking the law and never fucking with the cops... as if you need to break the law to get arrested :lol: what a fantasy

IF the officer were in plan clothes technically he wouldn't be a officer but yet just another citizen.  Either photo-shop a clown suit on him or maybe distort his facial features and add some stuff, that way its art.

And that "joint" in his mouth is an oregano stogie. What is he going do, be butt hurt and try to scare you.  Tell him to stop ruining your art project, be sure you call him dude too.

Fly under the radar as much as possible. Whether you can use that photo or not depends on whose photo it is in the first place. Is it taken in a public space, is it stolen from the cop's family album? Was it taken with consent or randomly found online?

But see, most of that stuff doesn't matter. What matters is that cops have no idea that you even exist, let alone wonder about your connections to pot, joints, shit they can get you on. Especially in a small town kinda place. If you're bored there, imagine how bored the cops might be. If you start fucking with one of them, well you might be the only good bullying target around for miles.

It's not "the law" you have to worry about, it's the actual people with the uniforms and paperwork and way too much time on their hands.
