Just received my brand new vitamix in the mail! Smoothie recipe suggestions?

Bout to head to the store to stock up on fresh nuts, fruits, veggies, and herbs to start gettin my smoothie on. Ill prolly be rocking three of these a day, as well as making more soups, salsas, sauces, and nut butters.  But very eager to try my first smoothie from this thing. I'm looking for not just fruit smoothie. Definitely want some veggies mixed in.
      I'm googling a lot of recipes as well as checking out the ones that came in the cookbook that came with the vitamix.
      But I'm wondering if any of y'all got some personal favorites. I used to work at a health food store 6 or more years ago n made the, all the time.  But I been outta the smoothie loop for a while and honestly can't even remember most of the stuff I made. 
      So psyched to start gettin healthier again. I kinda been slacking as of late. I feel like havin this is a great catalyst in encouraging me as well as making it kinda fun.  I love to cook but sometimes just don't have the time to start Chopin and cookin.  Considering I won't even need to eat with this thing and get a plethora of vitamins and nutrients just from making juices, smoothies, and soups.  Anywho, any suggestions greatly appreciated!

been wanting a blender myself for some time now but I know jackshit about them.

is it worth buying an expensive one or it's all the same thing basicly?

what are the characteristics/features to look for, I remember most model were stating their power in Kw I think? what else?

I have a blender of similar power (a Blendtec, which I don't recommend due to lack of the tamper design). Every single piece of pulp will be the exact same tiny bit in the finished product. One can make peanut butter (without the addition of any water or oil or anything) and it will be just as smooth as commercial peanut butter, like Jif.

It's sturdy as FUCK.


my main smoothie, I do it mostly for my nutrients for the day. (do not really need much after it)

My smoothie includes.

1 Bananna
2 cups yogurt
2 cups frozen fruit
2 tablespoons of crushed chia seed
1 cup pomegranite juice
(Add any other fruit juice you enjoy)
1 tbsp flax seed
1 cup and a half granola.


(I never use the same amount of each ingredient, as I've just been eyeballing it mostly. almost makes a full jug, I drink most of what I can before work, then take the rest with me.)

It is a lot to take down.

But it does the fucking job.

Did I mention, it's fucking delicious?!

I got this one. The day I bought it it was on sale for 399. With 5 payments at like 80 something a month after tax. With this one I have the ability to do dry blends. Which you still can with any other one but this comes with laser cut blades in the dry mixer in where I can basically pulverize anything. Mill grains and make flours. The blades spin so fast you can make hot soups an sauces ready to serve right out of the container.  They basically pulverize everything leaving u with virtually no pulp. If your juicing and going for that. Or you can pulse for thicker stuff. On top of the fact they last forever. I'm bout to make my first smoothie. Ill let u know in a few

It does not liquefy solids. There's still pulp, it's just tiny, tiny bits. It does not juice. The definition of juice is: free of solid bits. You can strain a Vitamix smoothie through a straining bag (http://www.therawfoodworld.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=100438_100453) and that will produce juice.

I work in a store where we make hella smoothies. Ill try to give u some recepies from the top of my head. These are all intended to fill a 16 oz cup.

All fruit is pre-frozen.

1. Monkey Shake
3/4 cup milk of choice
~2x3x2 block of tofu
some cocoa powder
some honey
like a fist size of chopped banannas

blend.

2. Strawberry Superb.
1 cup apple juice
1/2 cup OJ
equal parts strawberries and bannana, i think 4 oz each.

blend.

3. Cherry Berry Blast

Equal parts cherries, strawberries, and raspberries, totals 6 oz i think
Tablespoon of whey protein powder
1 cup Apple juice

blend.

4. Maui Waui Crush

1 cup pineapple juice
1 TBSP soy protein powder
4 oz mango, 4 oz bananna

blend.

5. Blue Moon

1.25 cup Lemonaid
4oz blueberries, 4 oz pineapple

Blend.

6. Peach Ginger (My Fav)

1 cup GrapeJuice
6 oz peaches
a cup of lemon sorbet
a thumbs sized chunk of ginger
a bit of green tea powder

Blend.



That's all I got for now. Vitamix's are pretty dope shit though. If you use protein powders your smoothies get very airy, almost like the interior of a 3 musketeers bar. If u have trouble mixing/pouring add more liquid.

Vitamix and blendtech are both great blenders.

a tasty smoothie is almond butter, hemp milk(or other), bannana, maca, ginger and cinnamon.

Tastes like cinnamon toast crunch cereal.

The Waring MX1000XTX is a competitor for these blenders. It has the tamper design of the Vitamix but is more powerful than any Vitamix, I believe.
