I worked at a cafe that had three of them.  I've used them probably 10,000 times. They're supposed to be better if you need to grind shit for a long time but they still overheat.  one of the three was always out for repairs.

They're nice,  but really no better than any other blender at blending shit.  Kind of a waste of money evevn if you're eating smoothies twice a day,  my 19.99 little rocket blender works better for one person,  it's lasted several years,  If it breaks I could replace it 20 times for the price of a cheap vitamix.

I would buy the Waring MX1000XTX if I were to buy a high powered blender. It's the same as Vitamix blenders for both the tamper design and the level of power. I actually think it's more powerful than any Vitamix blender.

Vitamix is probably fine for most people though.

Getting one pretty soon, I'll let you know. They are supposed to last forever.

Vitamix CIA series is the shitt about $600 at Bed bath and Beyond, i returned it anytime it burned out(about 4 times) and they replaced it everytime right away with a new one.
Then after a few years i needed cash so i returned it and got all my money back.

If i could i would have kept the blender. Best ones out there IMHO, keva juice uses them, FUCK BLENDTEC.

It will blend a frozen tomato in about two cups of water, always add your liquids first when using frozen stuff.

Will turn rassberry seeds into juice, and celery, will pulverize anything.

well frozen stuff will sink to the blades even with water, unles syou put a lot so it floats.

i would put orange juice about two cups or coconut water with my frozen fruit.

and water with my veggies.

you need the liquid to get things going, cause shitt will just get stuck on the sides an dthe blades will just spin

New here but I just came across this thread and yeah the Vitamix is totally worth it if you like to make your own smoothies and stuff like that. You can even use it for soups, sauces, nut butters, ice cream, and even bread dough.

I used to have a regular blender and it sucked for blending up greens (kale, spinach, broccoli, etc.). It always left big chunks in the smoothie which was nasty to choke down.

The Vitamix will blend them right up though to where you won't even know they are in the drink. It is kind of expensive for a blender, but it easily pays for itself. I use mine like 2-3 times a day now.

Here's a good review I just found online that gives you more details and all the features. You should check it out: http://www.charlottesvineyard.com/vitamix-5200-review/

Oh yeah and if you buy it refurbished from the website, it works just as good as a new one but will save you about $100.

I got mine from qvc. Special deal of the day. 399 which retails for 559. It's a 15 in 1 n comes with a dry blend container with some serious "laser" cut blades that go to town on grains and nuts to make flours and prep for butters and such. I'm so psyched. My shopping lis from now on will most likely consist of the produce/grain/and nut aisles. And I get to pay in 5 payments so that's 80ish a month. I'm no longer driving and that's less that insurance and gas. Well worth it. Should be here on 22rd.
