Quality blender? 1
#22780645 - 01/14/16 11:15 PM (8 years, 2 months ago) |
|
|
I am tryna make big calorie smoothies with greek yogurt, eggs, apple, banana, spinach, chia seeds, coconut milk and tons of oatmeal. I may try putting straight up rice in the smoothie. I am talking like a solid 2,000-3,000 calories, and a lot of protien
If I want to bulk later this semester with no kitchen while intermittent fasting and spending minimal time cooking, eating "mostly vegan" (eating tons of chicken and meat makes my digestion poor. Plus spiritual reasons) this is my only choice. I want to make one smoothie and just drink it throughout the day The cafeteria also serves the lowest quality food on earth. I basically just eat rice and spinach there at this point. Fuck that
Anybody have any ideas? The key here is I don't want some bitchass $400 vitamix. I looked it up, and the vitamix is actually $400. I am mainly interested in the blending tub size, durability, price, and I guess the "blending power"
There are a lot of health and fitness rats out there. Speak up!

I just got the wife this for , around $200. free shipping. She actually asked for this, (as seen on TV).
http://www.ninjakitchen.com/nutri-ninja-auto-iq/BL682/
I haven't read all the book yet, I've made a few cuke/fruit/ginger/ice cube based smoothies so far, shes uses it mixing dough, soup prep... I really need to use it more often. It's a solid machine, the real test will be when I run some San Pedro through it....

I work in a kitchen and run this exact blender through hell and its still going strong. We're talking gallons of food per day for about 6 months straight. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if I had space and regular use for it.

I do "individual" protein shakes (maybe 24 oz?) and my ninja is bad-ass. Based on the small capacity model I use, I'd recommend that brand.

Ya that one has a huge tub. Some research suggests about 72 oz pitcher. Thats just about enough

The ninja gets my vote too, they have all sizes and shit so it's pretty convenient. Also works like a champ. I bought a blender one time from shit mart; used it for about 20 seconds and the piece of shit fried and plastic pieces came out the bottom of it. Still haven't taken it back but luckily I had a magic bullet I forgot about, lesson learned cheap is still most likely garbage

read the OP. Hard boiled eggs, greek yogurt, chia seeds, coconut milk, banana, apple, oatmeal
I may add some straight up sardines. I eat almost purely for health, so most of my food tastes like absolute shit anyways

No blenders should have problems with any of that

I am aware that the magic bullet could blend these ingredients. But blending 2-3k worth of food in one go is hard. I would say the ninja is my best bet
I cant fit 2k of cals in a magic bullet

this is the one I have: http://www.amazon.com/Oster-BLSTVB-103-000-1100-watt-Professional-Performance/dp/B00H8MWOMU/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1452886817&sr=1-2&keywords=oster+versa
I like it powerful enough for me, and it has a big capacity (over 2 litres I think). Also, it's much less expensive than the big name ones like Vitamix

You get what you pay for
The vitamix has been my go to blender. It's indestructible and there is nothing and I mean nothing, it won't chew through with ease. The blend tech is identical in many ways but has more digital features.
Blendtec or vitamix is my recommendation

Go to a goodwill and google what used blenders they have, if the don't have anything good move onto the next store. Look on craigslist for an older model blender that is well reviewed. Don't buy a new blender, people sell them all the time for a lot less than they paid for it. Who cares if its old and looks beat up, if it works great and is build to last you are better off than buying a brand new piece of shit. I got a Krups brand blender for $7 a few weeks ago and it works great. If it lasts me a couple years great, if it breaks I will just go back to goodwill and get another one.

i make big smoothies with mine. it works fine. i don't think people need restaurant quality gear to make those lol. but hey it's your disposable income. i'd probably snag a vitamix if i had the cash to spare for one.

I totally agree with you, even if this topic is old! My family had one of them for many years and it was really good! Ninja has really a great variety of models and they're not very expensive Blentech, Cuisinart and Tigerchef blenders like in this list on cozzy.org are very good too Personally I have such Cuisinart one, I'm totally satisfied with it

Go to thrift stores, find an old oster, 1980s or older. The new ones are shit. I have grandma's osterizer (late 60's model) and it still turns solid ice to slush like it was new.
"Osterizer blenders tended towards heavy construction and motors. While this raised cost, many early-model Osterizers still function today, and are more powerful than a majority of contemporary consumer blenders.

I like Ninja too!!!) I choose between Vitamix and Ninja, eventually bought the first. I purchased this model from this article https://thehomedweller.com/best-blender-under-100/, and it's a really cool thing !!! after Ninja, my old blender seems to be a useless piece of metal)) I use it mostly for fruit smoothies))

You do not want to buy that blender
