No bottom layer casing.................?
    #1776116 - 08/03/03 07:15 PM (13 years, 4 months ago)

Has anyone ever had the misfortune to run out of vermiculite and NOT...use a bottom layer? A friend of a friend had this happen and was wondering if anyone ever intentionally left out the bottom layer.
I would imagine it would just leave the casing a bit starved for water. The grower used a 50/50 top instead of a full verm topping...BTW. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

there's still debate on the subject, so I guess it comes down to preference. To me, the bottom layer is just some insurance incase you over water/mist.
